CP's are 20% more stiffer set up than standard ones.
Well that's my minute and good luck with your hunt.
Wow, that's good going finding one in a couple of days! Thanks for the advice on the CP setup. I'll see if I can find a couple of cars locally to try as a comparison (no doubt I'll just be blown away by the performance!).

I probably need to try a standard car and a CP model to get a feel for it as the roads around here aren't great and I do venture into town a bit too.

What have you switched the M5 for?
When I say I had a niggle for a CP, it was purely for aesthetic reasons and definitely not because I thought there was something lacking. As M5theonlyone says, stick in Sport+ and its pretty firm and planted.

I have gone for a new X5M. Our family has just added another little one so with 2 now we needed slightly more space, but I didn't want to lose the M Factor

Congrats on the new arrival and the X5M!

I can certainly see the appeal of the X5M. My 11 year old daughter really wants me to get an X5M, it's sadly just not in budget for us yet

Just my input but the Comp Pack doesn't cause me any issues, its a lot more desirable but as I have said most owners wont tell the difference between that and a standard M5, however just put it in comfort and the ride is as good as my last 530D M Sport on 19" run flats. Not an amazing ride but still good.

The car is only 10mm lower and looks a lot better, the 20% difference I cant comment on as I have not driven a non-comp pack car

The Competition Package for the F10 M5, known by the internal option code 7MA, was introduced beginning with July, 2013 production and consisted of the following features:
—Revised engine management with different boost mapping, yielding 15 additional horsepower (for a total of 575)
—Sport exhaust with black chrome tips
—Revised suspension tuning with shorter (by 10mm) and stiffer (by 20 percent) springs, stiffer damping rates (by 20 percent), stiffer front axle bushings and increased anti-roll bar stiffness (by 15 percent)
—Quicker steering rack (by 10 percent) with revised Servotronic software
—Retuned Active M Differential software
—Retuned M Dynamic Mode (MDM) for Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)
—20-inch cast alloy "Style 601M" alloy wheels, sized 9x20-inch (front) and 10x20-inch (rear)

I'm finding there is some confusion by the rear wheel wideness of those, the 10.5" wideness only applies to the M6 CP version and not the M5.Some have bought M6 601M's and found they are the wrong ones for the M5.

Yes the M6 Comp Pack has wider rears than the M5 Comp Pack I think 0.5 less

Hi, I’ve gone from an M4 to a 2015 M5, to me the M5 is better value than an M4, IMO
I did search for a few day’s as to spec, I managed to find a Monte Carlo Blue with extended Silverstone, LED adaptive Head lights, H/K, 20” HUD, RIS done at 1193 miles, and only 11k miles, car was absolutely mint, with the remainder of an AUC warranty on it, which I have now extended, I love the car it feels a lot more planted on the road than the M4, I would hold out for the best spec you can find

Thanks for the feedback Effy, an M4 is what I started looking at but with an 8 year old and a tall 11 year old it's not ideal. I've always admired the F10 M5 and think they are a pretty complete all round car.

In the UK, there were 3 "special edtitions":

Performance Edition - Built March 2012

30 cars built for the UK
10 in Electric Red
10 in Frozen Blue
10 in Frozen Brilliant White
Special colour, trim and options, no special performance upgrades over pre-LCI.

30 Jahre - Built July to October 2014

31 cars built for the UK, contrary to BMW who stated only 30 cars.

Frozen Dark Silver paint, special interior/exterior trims. Competition Package upgraded to 592bhp (600PS)

Competition Edition - Built September 2016

25 cars built for the UK.
13 Carbon Black
12 Mineral White
Special colours, interior/exterior trims. Competition Package upgraded to 592bhp (600PS)

Since posting on here last week, I have visited Evolve in Luton, had the Evolve catless downpipes fitted and a stage 2 remap, the car now puts out 725 BHP, with 650 Ft Lbs of torque, before the remap, it was tested and made 611 BHP standard, the car drives so much better after the remap, and I can’t wait for the roads to warm up

Thanks PaulT_M5 that's really helpful. Interesting about the Jahre 30 too, as I also read that there were only 30 UK cars, where did you find this info?

Thanks!
But it was the UK specific specials I was thinking of. I think it was the 30 cars built as the "Performance Edition" you guys were lucky enough to get.

You are correct, the only "UK only" special was the Performance Edition from 2012.

The information on the cars is from the VIN decodes of all F10 M5 VIN numbers. There are 31 VINs that are a Jahre with option code S812A "England Version". One of which is a press demo, so 30 customer cars, plus 1 press demo.

You can get the same number with OpenFlash with just a stage 1 remap for £700 and be 100% emissions compliant

Guessing this is not a "genuine" performance edition then, as it's not one of those colours? More like someone just stick some stickers on?

IMO, I think it’s safer to go to a reputable tuner who’s had years of experience in mapping an identical vehicle, that’s been tested with over 200 Vmax runs without any issues, as opposed to a generic map.

Don't worry OFT are reputable they have been tuning cars for a lot longer than Imran who I highly respect by the way having had two maps from him.

OFT also have an M5 Comp Pack and have developed the tune on their own specific car.

Your map is 'generic' as its the same map that Evolve use on all of their Stage 2 M5/M6 cars. Evolve don't generally tweak any mapping settings in real time on customers cars they just load a generic map that's matched to your calibration code.

I appreciate that you don't know much about OpenFlash or Bootmod3 but maybe you should have a look if for no other reason than its the future of tuning cars.

Hope you enjoy the map

I've seen one 30 Jahre advertised a while ago with the CC brakes and it had just a few thousand miles on it.I forget what the exact price was but remember my eyes nearly popping out of their sockets when I saw it!
With these few offshoot models owners are keeping them locked away as a hopeful investment and then advertising them for a moon landing price.
