So I am seeing some porpoising on the ferrari now, I think they're trying to dump ride height as well.

Merc is bouncing even harder now, I really think they are really dropping ride height to see how far they can lower the car now with the new tweaks. I don't expect porpoising to fully go away until they bring in their new floor - which will only happen if the miami upgrades are positive. I suspect that the results are really good so far, so they will be continuing to push progress on the W13. George did finish fastest in FP2 and only a tiny bit off of Leclerc in FP1 - so I think the W13 is getting better.

maybe/probably, but the W13 is looking absolutely solid these last 2 practice sessions. Mercedes couldn't even finish in the top 10 in the last few practice sessions before these upgrades.

But the key thing to note is extremely minor floor changes made a big improvement to the porpoising. To me that looks like mercedes now know what is going on with their car and can fix it, and since ferrari keep messing up with sainz and redbull DNF'ed alot I think mercedes is still in it.

I did notice Lewis had the ride height sensor on his car again during one of his runs.

Yup they're seeing if the modifications are setting them on the right path, i.e. when does porpoising start with the newer lower ride height. I think they should sacrifice a driver and make them run the race with a ride height sensor so they can get even more data for the final floor upgrades.

Also Merc did run a small batch of air speed sensors along the floor on Lewis's car, and they ran flow vis on the front wing too.

I think it's track specific, this is a brand new track so the pavement is fresh, so right now all teams are messing with ride height and different setups to see how much they can get away with it before bouncing comes back. The only way we can see if mercedes or any team fixes the bouncing is it has to be consistent in at least 2-3 races.

It's not all about the freshness of the pavement it's about the bumps and undulations of the track. Miami happens to be quite smooth allowing for less porpoising. But Australia even though it was quite nice and new had pretty bad bumps making porpoising quite bad.

Mercedes haven't fixed porpoising, they didn't even make a big attempt at it this weekend. They're just experimenting with minor tweaks to the floor to see if it reduces porpoising so they know what direction to develop the floor for Spain. This isn't a full out fix yet, and you can see how much of an effect their floor upgrades have begun to improve the porpoising. Their wing upgrades have helped their speeds too, I believe they are faster than Ferrari during free practice in Miami.

Reserving judgement on this track until the race, but I don’t understand why F1 continues this street circuit fever. Hopefully we don’t get a procession with DRS trains. Rain may compound this.

Pit exit lacks logic.

George porpoising in the w13 today:

But you can see it does stop when he brakes, so cornering isn't as compromised as before - likely how he set the best time in fp2 and was only 7 hundredths off in fp1.

So getting there but not perfect. Not a bad attempt with only a little bit of modifications to the floor.

Track seems a bit noddy to me for an F1 car, that chicane is far too small and makes the cars look silly and uncomfortable. The back straight is long but it looks narrow to my eyes as well, I can see a potential pile up of people do get it wrong in the tight section that won’t end well.

Quali is going to be interesting that is for certain.

It's a street track so not much you can do. But it does look very interesting overall imo.

That’s why they are there. The equivalent of box seats. Seating area with incredible view. Bathroom. Kitchen. Bar. Shade. Televisions. Likely a butler and bartender. I’d love to have one for the weekend. Bit out of my price range. I’m laughing my ass off about anybody that didn’t think they’d be used for revenue as primo seating…
