Excessive Washer Fluid Consumption

Hey guys,
I've noticed that I am constantly running out of windshield washer fluid.
About once a month or so and I don’t use it that often.
Over the weekend, I removed the wheel well to gain access to the system and checked for leaks. No leaks found and no residue found.
I have deactivated the headlight washers via coding long ago, so that’s not it.
I can’t stand them lol
Each time I get the low fluid warning, it always takes a full gallon to fill it up.

Has anyone else noticed excessive use of fluid?

One idea would be evaporation either from the poor seal on the cap or from the heat from the turbos at the nozzles .

I've had the same problem. I think its evaporating like you said. I've had to fill it up a bunch of times and I never really use the washers.

Definitely evaporation. I get it often too and almost never used it.

I'm currently in my 2nd F10 M5 and never experienced this, aside from a gallon over the winter months. Beyond that, nothing additional except fluid top off during service intervals.

My '14 M5 also did this when I first got it last year.

The solution was to replace the reservoir cap. It snaps on/off and has a part number 61667238068. This is #11 in the diagram attached.

The seal is pretty flimsy and I think the engine heat kills it after a while allowing a lot of evaporation. The part is very inexpensive and no tools are needed to swap it.

Thanks guys!

Installed a new washer cap yesterday and filled it back up. Hopefully this fixes it.

Let us know if this has also fixed your fluid loss issue. I've just ordered three of the filler pipe covers, I figure I'll need another few again in the future.

Mine sprays out of the top and I have liquid underside of my hood when driven hard. Tech said its breather hole and not to worry about it?
