2014 6MT?

Morning - Trying to locate a nice 6MT for under 40k and under 50k mileage but not having much luck preferably Space Gray or White. Where there any M5's with MT made in 2014? I know they stopped the 550 in 13' just not sure about the M5. (replacing my 12' 550 6MT that I wish I never sold)

Thanks.

You're not having luck because that's not a completely realistic range. You want a LCI car, with a 6MT for under $40k with 50k miles or less? Nevermind the color choices or options, that price is not realistic.

I paid $40.5k for my 2013 6MT with 49k miles. It is fully optioned and was exactly the color combo I wanted (Imperial Blue over Silverstone interior). I spent nearly 6 months finding it. Facelift cars command roughly a $4k premium over the '13's. 6MT cars generally command another $2-4k over a similar spec DCT car. Personally, I think this gap will only grow larger as the cars age and more enthusiasts can afford them. The demand will increase for 6MT's.

To answer your other question, I believe the 6MT was produced every year, but there are only 560 total for North America. Spread that over the production years and the numbers are pretty low!

Good luck in your search, and even though you didn't ask for this advice, I highly recommend you don't rush into buying just any car. Make sure it's exactly what you want! I really do think you need to increase your budget by roughly $5k though or start focusing on 2013's.

OP,

I'm about to turn my M5 back in to the dealer (BMW of Toledo). It is a leased '16 M5, currently with just shy of 29k miles on it. The residual buyout at lease end is 66k, but you could probably get a lower number from them, as RWD manual tranny sports cars are not exactly big sellers in the snowy north.

I recognize my car is outside your price range, but it has been an amazing car that I took great care of, and I have had zero problems with it since it had 1 mile on the odometer. It is Singapore grey with sakhir orange extended leather. There are pics of it in my "garage".

Anyways, good luck with your search. The 6MT in my M5 has been an absolute blast.

Regards,
Danny

WOW I had no idea the MT was offered every year. Yes my budget can go up knowing this. I thought they stopped in 2013 so have only been searching 13'. Thank you all for the responses. Absolutely opened my range, however i think I still need to be in the 40's and not to concerned about miles if the car has good history.

Ok, great. You will find a 2014 and MAYBE a 2015 and lower miles in the 40's range for sure. Like I said earlier, you will have to search for a while, but they are out there! For my search it seemed like there were never more than 10-15 6MT's for sale at one time.

The majority of manual cars were made in 2012-2013, with very few being produced for the remaining years after the LCI update. Considering your budget of 40K, you certainly can get yourself into a nice manual car, but you will ultimately be faced with a decision of features: LCI update versues option packages because it's very rare to
1. Find a manual
2. Find a LCI manual
3. Find a LCI manual with the option packages
4. Find a LCI manual with the options packages and the interior/exterior colors you desire,
The list goes on forever, so I would strongly suggest you do some research to find out what you must have in a car besides the transmission and you'll be ready to move fast once you the right car comes across your screen. Remember when I said move fast, because the manual cars get purchased quickly.

That being said, it took me three years to find mine and I would never sell it.

I was in your same dilemma as well, took awhile but found my '13 6MT w/50k miles for 38k. Be patient.. you will find the right one! Just make sure you are searching nationally..

I don't have children and didn't know a thing about Bikini Bottom until the news coverage of the death of the creator of Sponge Bob Squarepants last night. When I saw his location I thought it was probably a place in Florida.
