Its like anything in life - practice practice and practice. While Im not a professional photographer, Ive been doing photography for almost 15 years and still learn something new everyday. You can take a look at my Instagram for a sense of my photographic style -> https://www.instagram.com/friskygeek/
A few tips that I always give people that ask me about taking better pictures: 1. Take the time to learn your equipment. The only way to learn it is by taking pictures. Pay special attention to aperture (f-stop), its the most key setting in any shot. Photography is nothing but capture of light, and the f-stop is the gateway to capturing that light. 2. The best camera is the one with you. I cant stress this enough. Ive taken shots that have been published in travel magazines with my iPhone. 3. Take multiple shots of the subject from slightly different angles. Use the best one with the best light. 4. There are only two times in the day that you should be taking photos - its called the Golden Hour, or Blue Hour. those are: dawn and sunset. You'll take million-dollar shots if you only take shots of anything at those times. Trust me. 5. Some of my fav processing apps for iOS are: Snapseed, Vscocam, Darkroom, CortexCam (for lowlight shots). Play around with them to learn them. 6. Pay close attention to compositions. Take shots of your car with minimal background to force more attention to the car / subject. Same rule applies to portraits. 7. Take lots of shots, use the best one. You think professional photographers dont take bad photos? Their trick is that you never get to see their bad shots. ;-) Some of my shots of my car during my ED in Oct:

Here are some tips:
1) Use a low angle. I use a camera which has a pivoting screen so I fold the screen out so it is facing upwards. Then you can aim the photo while looking down on the camera which makes it a lot easier to get the perfect shot. 2) In addition to the photos of the whole car, take photos at angles and close-up which capture details. For instance the LED headlights, the side profile of the car, shooting along the body. One of my fave shots on the M5 is shooting along the front fender so you can see the fender, the vents and the road ahead. Shooting along the fender shows off the sculpted lines. I like shots where you have the ocean, skyline, mountains or stately homes in the background. 5) for interior shots always capture the HUD and the nav screen, and shoot it in a location where you have a curve ahead so it looks like the drive is going to be dynamic and exciting.
