I was NOT going to challenge them!

A few years ago, I was playing in FL. Hit my ball into the rough. Found it, hit it, and saw a snake coiled up next to the cart where I had just jumped out. I ran to the other side and drove off. Later on, I looked back to figure out what kind of snake it was. Best I can figure, it was a freaking copperhead! That would have ended my trip in a bad way!

Another FL adventure hole:
Pulled a shot into the water - next to a gator.
Dropped and pulled another shot into a green side bunker - on a red ant nest.
Needless to say, I didn’t score well on that hole.

Many of the traveling group I play with won't play it because of the steep hills to and from the greens.

In fact that was the course that caused me to get fake knees. I was playing it with my BIL and realized I could walk UP hills but any steep downhill was a no bueno.

But for the fit a great choice and great price/quality choice.
I know exactly what you mean. Sone of the grades are so steep I almost wish I wore spiked shoes.

Played Pebble, Spyglass, Spanish and Del Monte in 2023. I think Spanish was being revamped in 24.

$Stayed on the resort for the 4 days $$$$$. If I make my way there again, I would stay at the resort for Pebble and Spanish Bay, then stay and play elsewhere.

Just put a deposit on a 2-bedroom apartment in the Optima Kierland complex in Scottsdale, and one of the perks is a discount at our neighbor the Westin Kierland Golf Club. Looking forward to spending a lot of time on their courses! Great golf simulator in my new building too. Very excited!

Don’t know. I was apartment hunting this Sunday and didn’t play golf this weekend. Took that photo off the web while researching the venue. Can’t wait to find out though!

So I just bought a brand new putter and it came with white grips. What can I apply to the grip before I use it to cut down on dirt and grime that can be easily wiped clean after every use. Thanks!

Pretty quiet in here lately...everyone doing okay or are all y'all too busy playing golf? lol!

Wife, my almost 8 year old daughter and I went to Top Golf on Sunday. It was a cool 20-25 degrees out but with the heaters, it was very nice!

We had the bay for 2 hours. My daughter and I hit most of the time while the wife was joining in every now and then and just enjoyed watching us hit.

At our Top Golf, to the back of the net was 215 and I was carrying over 223-225. Keep in mind, it was about 20-25 degrees outside...I would assume that carry number would increase drastically if it was 80 degrees outside.

I was hitting the driver good and straight..some, I was pulling too hard or somehow hitting the turf before the ball. Mind you, they have the tees low and I like mine about 1/4" to 1/2" higher than what I was hitting off of. But all in all, I was pretty consistent hitting my driver straight, 7 out of 10.

Took my 4i and 9i with me to work on. I took a lesson back in early December 2024 with a PGA Pro and was finally able to work on somethings he taught me. I was hitting each iron pretty damn good and straight..having some of the same result as my driver but a little better. So 8 out of 10 shots were very good shots.

I am seeing the Pro again this Saturday to hone in on my driver and possibly looking at buying a new one for the upcoming season as the Ping G30 is over 10 years old and I think I am about due for a new one.

I think it was top golf I went to once. The balls were so bad it wasn't fun. Maybe yours is better.

I just awoke from a post golf nap here in Thailand from a really good day on the course. Beat my handicap by 6 (75 off a 9) and won the only "two" (twos pot ) and wasted a two since I had two twos and no one else did. LOL

A bit hot here but not complaining. I'll be back stateside in 2 weeks. Of course I can still golf in Arizona there.

That's great! Congrats! Do you have any pictures of the course? Very jealous you are playing over there! Weather in Cincinnati has been all over the place. Ready for it to be a consistent 60 and sunny.

My company golf league starts 4/23. So I can't wait!

I've only played a few rounds so far this year...Pasatiempo, Mariner's Point, and Corica Park's par 3 course.

There's a new sim bay spot in San Mateo called GolfersBZ that's pretty legit though, I had more fun there than at Top Golf. You hit on a platform where the balls funnel in underneath automatically, get automatically teed up for you, there are foot controls to aim left / right and raise the tee up / down, and the best part is there's a 1-2-3y putting surface in front of you so once you get close to the hole it actually warps / raises / etc to mimic the contours of the green and one of the 3 holes opens for you to aim and putt at. Highly recommend checking it out if you're in the bay area.

Lucky! The weather has been miserable here with only a few teaser days in the 60s maybe a few times. Next week is the first real week here where the weather will be consistent in the 60s for more than a day.

How did you play at those courses?

Seems like golf sims are the thing right now..which is cool with me but here in Cincinnati, they are popping up everywhere. Which is nice so it will keep the cost down for an hour of hitting. But I prefer hitting outside.

What kind of drivers are you all hitting? I have my eyes on the Taylormade Qi35 driver OR the Qi10 MAX driver. Thoughts on these as well as the Callaway Elyte driver.

Thanks!

I am terrible at taking photos. But here is a link to where I played Wednesday and will again today. Although today is the other course called St Andrews 2000.

St Andrews 2000 was opened in 2000 but has no relation to the real St Andrews so far as I can tell. LOL

Also these photos look a lot nicer hard to recognize the course. But I do love having a caddy. They are fun on the course and help this old fart as I don't have to reach down and get the ball out of the cup.

Course looks awesome! Shit..any course for that matter looks awesome to me as I am ready to get out there and play!

I have never had a caddy and not sure if I would like that. Do you have to walk or can you ride a golf cart? For me, half the fun is driving the golf cart. lol

I am trying to plan a few guy trips this year. Just an extended weekend about 2hr radius drive from Cincinnati. Have a few places in mind. French Lick looks pretty damn cool!

We are taking a family lake trip to Michigan this year from Thursday - Monday in July. I might take my clubs. I can only lay on the lake for so long until I get board. Wouldn't mind playing a quick 9-18 holes early in the morning while everyone else is sleeping and be back by 11am-12pm to jump in the boat or lake for rest of the day.

You get caddy and cart. They drive the cart and it isn't optional. Having four caddies in a foursome is awesome. So much fun I assure you it would be a memory.

Played today and struggled with my back. Different course par 74 with two par 6s, shot 83. Coming home to America in about a week.

Friend is a member at Pasatiempo; Mariner's and Corica are public (and cheap! Mariner's is like $18 and stays open till 11pm or so, they have spotlights on the course, it's a 9 hole par 3 right on the water of the SF bay underneath the SFO landing path).

As for driver - I still have a 2021 PXG 0811 Proto, the only clubs I've tried and hit better with over the last few years were the Ping G425 and the Titleist TSr2, but I didn't pull the trigger at the time and now don't really like / hit the 430 / GT drivers well. So I'm sticking with my PXG for now.

Weather is turning the corner here, time to put range time on the list of things to do!

I am a fair weather golfer, which means I likely won't be on the course for a while.

The (lap) swimming season has been good this winter, and I am looking forward to the transition to golf and cycling.

That is understandable! I wouldn't find any joy in playing if I had to walk 18.

Is there still golf on the schedule while you are there or is that over?

Hope your back is feeling better!

I would love to play night golf! It's pretty cool to see the balls lit up and fly through the air! I don't think Cincinnati has anything like that. From what Mark Twain said, "if you want to go back in time 10 years, visit Cincinnati, OH!" Which is very true!

I will check out those drivers. I have my golf lesson this afternoon at Noon ET to dial in my driver so he is letting me hit his Taylormade Qi10 MAX driver to see how I like it. I can't justify spending over $600 for a new driver. The Qi10 I can pretty much get for half that price, new.

My Ping G30 has seen better days. Over 10 years old and has a dent on the face close to the toe of the head. Which could affect in someway how the ball comes off the face of the driver.

Just checked the weather and it's supposed to be in the mid 70s next week! I am already thinking about taking next Friday off from work and play an early 18!

I have been to the range twice and happy I did as it's easy to forget what you need to work on when I didn't have the time to do so during the winter.

Got 3 more rounds of golf before I go home including 2 hours from now. Truth is I am more worried about walking through 4 airports flying home than golf. LOL

BTW my buddy plays once a week way early with a lit golf ball. Says it plays life normal off a driver but irons way shorter and clanky.

Traditionaly I play TaylorMade woods but i got fit into a Titleist TSR3 (and LA Golf DJ Series shaft) when it came out three years ago. I was so impressed with it i immediately bought the GT3 and put it on my shaft when it came out last year. Absolutely love my driver. It’s a monster and about as straight as I can expect any club to be. Strongly recommend.
