Stinger Laser/Radar

Has anyone purchased or reviewed this laser jammer and radar system? On the expensive side, looks like a nice system. Not sure it would work with mounting them to the rear of the car, but defiantly works for the front.

Just picked up a new '16 M5 and not sure to reinstall my previous Laser Interceptor or try a new setup.

Anyone know if LI has changed their system (besides software updates) in the last few years?

Flip on over to the radar forum, though I haven't been on it in the past few months. General consensus is the LIs are out dated and most are not happy with their customer service, etc. ALP is supposedly very good but the peeps on that forum were saying stinger is waaay better. Not sure wth that means.?? Big $$ doesn't always mean best counter measures. My bel stir plus works great. I don't get much laser in westchester though I have my LIs mounted just in case. Post what you find out. Now you have me curious?? What's the deets on the M?

I'm not sure stinger is worth the difference. ALP paired with Bel Stir Plus is an amazing setup and much much cheaper.

I personally have the older Escort 9500CI and mounted a third head to the front and have jammed laser shots every time. Confirmed several times.

Stinger seems to be the best but not sure it's worth it.

I installed an ALP system on my 911 TTS. I didn't like it very much, thought it was complicated to use and update. Beeps a lot (probably falseing just haven't updated it yet). Maybe I have to spend some more time with it.

Thanks for the info. The stinger has a cool factor to it. As long as the rear sensors are flush in the back or don't stick out more than a few mm, and I find a decent location for the screen I might give it a shot. I forgot there was a laser section, will take a look.

This is probably my favorite individual M5 I have spec'd to date. I spent a few days in Cali working in a studio with a staff of BMW DW employees and a fresh of the boat '16 M5. Took about 7 months to get the car from start to finish.
It came out great, I picked it up a few days ago, spent a few days detailing it and now finally getting my Akra put on it along with some other parts I just got in. Mid next week I'll post some more photos.. Here's two I have on my phone now. Totally won the lottery when I saw PSS's on the wheels upon taking delivery.

Frozen Black, Individual Parts, Bi-Color Interior, Contrast Stitching (black+white thread), Fully optioned with CCB's and CP package. Steering is completely different than my '13 I used to have. M5 is really a great car.

I would avoid Stinger's laser product. My sense is it isn't ready for prime time yet. ALP seems to do better, especially at wide angle shots which are quite common in Florida.

I would suggest you get the Stinger Radar and the ALP. That's what I am going to do next time round.

If you do go with the Stinger laser then let us know how it tests if you get it tested. Make sure they test with the newest guns.

Nice car. I liked your '13 as well. What was the difference in specs b/w the two?

Stealth, what are you running on your FG M5?

I did some more research on Stinger. For radar you have to mount these front and rear sensors that are about the size of an iPhone. The catch is it cannot be mounted behind metallic paint or behind mesh grille. Not sure I want to cut the grille out again.

For the stinger laser they recommend mounting 6 heads in the front and 6 in the rear (3 are receiving heads and 3 are transmitter heads). They do offer a very small head type that could be placed in the weatherstripping of a light or in the gap of the front bumper/front hood. Some people only do 2 and they say it doesn't make that much of a difference in terms of coverage.

Lots more to research on stalker that's for sure.

My FG M5 had a Bel Stir+ and Laser Interceptor. At the time I bought that car in late 2013 ALP was new and an unknown quantity.

I am having my 911 Turbo S installed today and tomorrow. I have gone for a full ALP integrated setup - 5 x ALP jamming heads with 2 x ALP Net Radar antennae front and rear. I'm pretty excited about this setup and will post pics.
