Added a sub to the b&o system

I found the impact/drop off from the B&O a bit disappointing on the low end. I used a morel ultimo sc104 sub - good sq sub. I used a hertz hdp1 amp and since the signal was extremely hot coming off the B&O amp for the stock subs, I used an audio control lc2i to convert the signal for the amp.

Amp was mounted to the underside of the rear deck - it's small so not noticeable.

I'm keeping the trunk passthrough open to allow more sound through--the BMW trunk is extremely well sealed.

definitely worth it though--sounds SO much better, the ultimo blends in perfectly with the existing system!

I could make the sub boxes (if I had time and motivation to do so)... but, you'd still have to get a local shop to install the amp and secure the sub to the car (bolt). I would think you'd have plenty of reputable shops in NC/charlotte?

Usually they'll charge about 500$ or so for the fiberglass box, based on the sub you choose. The Morel ultimo is an excellent SQ sub that can dig deep and play loud enough to penetrate the sound proof bmw trunk

I'll talk to the local shop that I had install my amp... maybe he'd be interested in making a mold of my box and doing a group buy or something if there's enough interest. He's made some molds for other cars, but not sure how much money there is in it (motivation).

looks great! so even with the sub sitting on the side and not firing forward it still sounds pretty good? any disadvantages of just running the 1 sub vs 2? appreciate the feedback!

Subs can be aimed pretty much any direction .. they might sound better forward, backward, left/right--but typicaly, anything corner loaded will sound just fine.

Advantages of 2 subs vs 1 is the cone/surface area... 2 10's > 1 12... the more air you can move, the louder they are.

I was debating 2 15's or 18's in an infinite baffle - but i like my trunk space

Looks nice man. Great location. When I bought my Yukon in 06 only one company in Dallas was using one sub in the side panel. One quality sub can make a whole lot of diff in the way the music sounds.

Nice work on the install, and keeping the natural contours on the interior!

I don't mean to spam your thread, but if others are wanting something like this, and you don't plan on making more (I know they're very time consuming) I have been producing these for the F36 4-series, and can definitely support the F10 chassis too. Anyone is welcome to PM me, if interested. Here's an example of an F36 model, with matching dyed carpet.

Thanks for the plug! And congratulations again on a clean install!
