F10 M5 rod bearings

Hello, took my 2015 M5 to a shop and was quoted 13k in repairs for the power steering system and some engine maintenance(4 injectors, all coils and sparks) as well as replacing and reprogramming an ECU. I feel like I’ve been overcharged but as well as being told my rod bearings need to be changed asap and the cars at 70k miles. Is this normal?

Hey there. It's not possible for anyone to imply that rod bearings need changing without actually dropping the sump and inspecting them.
I'd agree that 13k $ is a silly price to pay for the other things with the oil service, sounds a rip off.

What’s the reason for injectors and ECU?

As Rick said, you can’t know if your rod bearings are going out. I suggest you take an oil sample after 5k miles and send it to Blackstone Laboratories.

Oh, and maybe look for a new shop that doesn’t treat you like a dollar sign.

Received a drivetrain malfunction warning and now my Dog is in limp mode throwing a code:P054D

I’m going to troubleshoot the issue by start to replace the 02 Sensors,Cam Sensors and the Vanos Solenoids.

Is this a good start to try and find out what is the issue? I really hope that the issue doesn’t go any deeper than this.

I believe they still have the original plugs. I just got this beast of a machine a few months back. I’ve been slow to go through standard equipment updates/maitenance and the moment I had the chance to begin putting in new components I received the malfunction alert.

Changing the sparks was in my list as well. I’m just trying to figure out what’s the first step I can take before I get to the point of going to a shop.

Maybe skip all you were planning, that fault code you gave means the ignition timing is out to where it should be hence throwing that code, not recommended even to drive with this PO54D code.
Engine control Module (PCM) monitors ignition cold start so it needs to go in to a repair shop for more diagnosis, you can try to cancel out the code but if you can't and it continues to run with lack of power on start up then it has to go in for more diagnosis and possible repair I'm afraid.
You say 'they' still have the original plugs but I gather they are not on the car ! I changed mine out at 40k when car was going into low power mode then returning. GL with that.

The car had a misfire even after coils, sparks, and injectors were changed. So the mechanic diagnosed the car for “hours” and found that it was an issue with the ecu. It was running good after and they sent an oil analysis to black stone and said it needed rod bearings. But before I took it to the shop the car was sitting for 8 months, could that be a reason? Also after a month of all that work being done, my car broke down again and my issue sounds like a high pressure fuel pump, is that normal at 70k miles?

End of the day parts can fail on a brand new car with 200 miles on the odometer or 70,000 miles like yours. If Blackstone found aluminum in your oil then rod bearings will need to be replaced and this is more than likely due to your injectors leaking or the high pressure fuel pump leaking internally and diluting the oil. Luckily the high pressure pumps are cheap and very easy to install.
