RRS

I was driving back home the other day and a RRS autobiography pulled up alongside. Long story short he was being a dick, so I decided to show him who's the boss. I was surprised how well that thing hauls and how planted it seems in corners.

I still got him though but not by much - I was playing it safe while he was being a complete nutcase weaving in and out.

Interesting. Autobiography has 510hp vs SVR has 550hp. I wonder if he was an SVR and not an Autobiography?

I have the 550hp Jag engine in my F-Type R. The engine has noticeably less power at top end (probably actually 550hp vs 600hp in the BMW), but at lower revs it seems to have more power (probably because of instant power from supercharger) which may make it better for street racing. The F-Type obviously because of its 650b weight advantage beats the M5 in a race, but the 510hp RRS I would have expected to struggle.

You could be right stealth that it was a SVR. It was a bit slippery and light snow so visibility was not the best. It had a deep grunt.

I think it was close for a couple of reasons - supercharger that you mentioned, but also that he was being reckless in weaving and out dangerously. I don't do that but if I did, I think it would not have been this close (we raced to the toll gates).

Lastly, it was a bit slippery but my winter tires had just fine grip so don't think it was anything to do with traction.

Either way I was pleasantly surprised how well that giant thing pulled and the sound it made. I still think that guy was a total dick for driving recklessly in traffic.

The SVR is a nice machine.

All you had to say was it was wet or anything other than dry warm pavement. The M5 loses to almost every AWD performance car on wet or otherwise conditions!

Same situation in the summer with your MPSS on then game over.

I don't even bother trying during the winter months. I just let them go about their business.

AWD Ftype R 3814 lbs

I have the RWD so it's about 750lbs lighter.

The other one is about 575 lbs lighter.

Funny you say that. I remember my traction light not coming on. I was surprised how he was pulling and thought maybe it's traction - didn't feel TCS coming on or any lights on dash. The whole thing was about 2 minutes. I could have missed the lights for traction though.

This was the second douche I saw in RRS in a week. Maybe RR attracts these kind of idiots now? I wish I had a dashcam to record how nasty this guy was driving. He was getting beeped by pretty much everyone - he was basically forcing others to move out while he steered into them. I was a good 5 car lengths behind but I took the inside line (they open up the shoulder at certain times) and just punched it. Beast pulled and pulled and cleared him by a fraction the time we reached the tolls.

Funny. Most RRS drivers around here are women not men.

I was referring to real world measurement:

Car and Driver 2015 RWD Ftype R Coupe weight 3917 lb
http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...pe-test-review

Car and Driver 2016 AWD Ftype R Convertible weight 4075 lb
http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...le-test-review

Car and Driver 2013 BMW M5 weight 4398 lb
http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...al-test-review

Motor trend also measured 3873 lb (2015 RWD Ftype R).

And I admit they had different packages so different weights.

I feel your pain!!! Some big ass Infinity SUV was taking me on today trying to stick with me all the way on the straights, overtaking and thru bends.... Did a good job and sounded good but obviously no match for the TTS... But what engine does that thing have?? I've never seen an Infinity like it over here..?
The 5ltr Supercharged RRS is a beast and not to be underestimated..

That real world measurement is off for the M5. No DCT, No Full leather, no Bang and Olufsen, those add a fair bit of weight.

I have a 15 RR supercharged. Thing is a beast. Not m5 fast but I'm sure conditions played into it. Drove the RR back to back with a x5m. Was glad I owned the RR even though the x5m was great.

Well I'm not sure about which options that particular car has but for sure even fully loaded M5 does not weigh a lot more than 4400 lb why? because the base or near the base 2013 M5 with DCT weighs 4300 lb
http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...ad-test-review

B&O and full leather and executive package will not weigh (together) more than 100 lb IMO

MT reported 4348 lb here for non CP M5 with DCT
Or 4369 lb here for another CP M5 with DCT

And if you want to know the European spec of M5 (which is the base model) it's 1945 kg (4279 lb)

You can tell from the MSRP it's an M5 with 20" wheels and exec package. That 4369 lbs figure is more realistic for a well equipped car.

I would take a supercharged RR over X5M if it was not for the image problem. More RR drivers than not drive like dbags around here and I don't know why. They are only topped by the 3 series BMW drivers.

But I still won't get either - I just can't see the point of a fast SUV. It needs to be comfy, smooth as silk, tons of space with a 3rd row, and kid friendly. A fast SUV is not any of those things. But that's just my preference. Nothing against people who get fast SUV's, just not my cup of tea.

I hear you. But having seen the Dbag behavior in Plenty of RR's lately, I can't put it any other way.

Does supercharger losses steam at the top end compared to turbo charger? I'm asking because based on the Auto Bild test, the CTS-V took longer than M6 600HP CP in reaching 300km but was quicker everywhere else until after 250km.
