Insight if Pre-LCI m5

Hello everyone ,

I have been looking deeply into getting an m5 , preferably a Manual . I'm open to any year just was curious if the '13 would be a bad buy for the manual transmission. I've read about some early bearing issues and fuel pumps. Just wasn't wondering if anyone had any issues with a '13 with a Manual or without. Or would trying to find LCI manual be better for longevity. Looking to keep for awhile being that this is the last manual m5.

People want LCI because it has better lights and steering wheel. The pre-LCI doesn't suffer from bearing issues or fuel pumps to my knowledge, they are all equal. Some of the very first M5s had oil pump issues but there wasn't that many affected.

Don't let people put you off the pre-LCI, if you can live with that ugly steering wheel (which I do) then don't worry.

But you can always change the steering wheel and do the coding I assume correct ? Warranty is a must have ? Or I can DIY majority ?

Warranty on these cars is getting harder to come by as they age. I would just get a ppi and just enjoy it.

True , is the power pretty useable for a daily ? I know it will be comfortable. I've had a 2018 m3. Just never gotten a chance to drive manual m5

Nothing wrong with the 13 pre lci as long as it was well maintained.

You can always change the steering wheel.. which is very simple, was my first mod.

I have owned my car since it had 12k miles on it, and it's been about 4 years now.

No major issues, just maintenance.

-changed 1 engine mount (bcus I thought it was leaking) easy fix
-New AC compressor
-new turbo lines

That's about it, stay up to date with all fluid changes and maintenance.

Check for oil leaks, white smoke after driving and any weird noises. Other than that, this platform is very good, if it's not abused.

Great that's reassuring , thank you ! Do you have manual or dct? I've read that some people say DCT is better for the car and manual doesn't fit the motor but some say manual is great on the platform.

I have a DCT and I love it. I don't think I would purchase this car with a manual, just my opinion. I would rather a smaller (m2/m3/m4) in manual.

There are a bunch of guys with the manual f10 and they love it. Get what you love and drive it !!!!!

I purchased my wheel fully complete from a forum member awhile back. But they pop up on eBay and in the forsale section. Just be ready to jump on it when it appears.

I had to get one with heating/lane departure and they are pretty rare fully complete, so I jumped as soon as it was available.
