With the official announcement from BMW of the New Navigation Professional and iDrive/ConnectedDrive, many of you have inquired when the technology (both a software and hardware [cpu, graphics processor, hard drive] upgrade) would be implemented on the various models.

Below is the scheduled rollout for the new navigation and iDrive. These dates do not apply to the new iDrive Touch system, which will have a separate rollout and application schedule.

The touch controller seems cool - like a mouse pad on the control knob.

Garage List
My understanding is that the new nav system will be on all 2013 M5s, but the touch controller on 2014 M5s, and 2013 M5s only in china.

That's correct. It's both hardware and software upgrades.

The upgraded hardware components are listed in the first post. It would be no minor task to upgrade all those components.

I would have to imagine it is possible, but it would require replacing the CiC and recoding of your car at minimum.

THere are those of us out there that have converted our old CCC navi (the very old version) to the newer CiC based systems in older cars. This should be an easier change than the CCC -> CiC.

With that said, you're probably looking at a few thousand to do it, and honestly if you were to do it, you'd probably be better waiting until the touch idrive controler is available as well, just in case the CiC computer changes again.

Apparently a July-build 2013 F10 in the UK was delivered with the old NAV so have the rollout dates changed?
