Competition Package: 2013 or 2014 M5 LCI Purchase

I have a 2014 M5 with Comp Package on order right now, but I have confirmed sources telling me the only difference in exhaust is that they are black. So, its the stock exhaust with black tips. I was told it was the Akropovic exhaust but it is not.
Btw...I got $3000 over invoice on my car.

I thought the Comp Package exhaust would be good enough, but I know now that I will have to buy a Eisenmann exhaust & AMS downpipes now at a cost of $7500.

So, I'm paying $7300 for 15 extra hp, some performance tweeks and wheels that I'm still not that excited about.

Do I order another 2014 M5 with LCI without Comp Package and add my own exhaust or buy 2013 for a great deal.

The only LCI upgrades I wouldnt have are the new LED lights & steering wheel since I can buy the LCI front kindney grills aftermarket.

I also plan on buying these to install:
Front Lip RPK, Rear Spoiler,Rear Diffuser RPK, Side Skirts Seibon,
Front Grill, Side Markers, Wheel Spacers and Reflector Covers.

Thoughts Please?

This will be heavily debated, but IMO, you are better off skipping CP and going aftermarket:
- Eisenmann Race mufflers $4000
- Eibach Lowering Springs $500
- Switzer 700hp tune $3000

That combination will blow away any CP car.

What about the LCI LED headlights and steering wheel?

Are the LCI headlights & steering wheel available for a retrofit on the
2013 M5 models?

FWIW, the Competition Package also removes the baffling from the exhaust, making it somewhat louder. Also, the pictures of the ride height (drop) with the ZCP look quite nice.

How much lower is the CP and can baffling be removed from a non CP car?

So black tips and they removed the baffling...I guess that's what they call Sport.
I was told it comes with the BMW Performance Akropovic Exhaust so I figured I would be happy with it.

Sorry, but there are now 3 exhausts. Stock, the Competition package (similar to stock with some baffles removed) and the BMW Performance exhaust made by Akrapovic. (and no, unfortunately, the competition package does not include it)

That said, I would NEVER take a set of cheap lowering springs over a factory lowered suspension.

You won't get your $7300 back by selling your car and buying a new one. And if you're considering buying a 2013 and retrofitting the 2014 steering wheel and LED headlights you're really going to go backwards. With the CP you do get the improved appearance of the lower ride height without going aftermarket. You also (supposedly) get improved steering and handling, and 20" wheels. Whether all this is worth $7300 is debatable, but you've already made the purchase so I think this makes the decision easy for you. If I were you I would keep the car and enjoy it.

I don't have the car yet. My advisor screwed up & sent it to SC instead of CA so it's on a train headed for CA right now. I stil have a few weeks to decide.

The drop is only 10mm, but seems more in pictures (to my eyes). I'm not certain how difficult it is, but I believe the potential for removing baffling has been discussed on here before.

Dont buy the CP just for the exhaust. Sounds very good but probably not as good as any other option in the market.
I got mine two days ago. With CP. The best decision on the list. No doubt.
I was hesitating on the wheels. They look beautiful, much beter than in the pictures, absolutely gorgeous.
The car looks much sportier (lower suspension, wheels, etc)

First congrats on your new car.
Couldn't agree with you more... at this point I am eschewing any more real talk about the CP on this forum... partly because I know I am as guilty of anyone else of being subjective toward what I bought, partly because I know anyone who doesn't have it will tell you its not worth it. That being said, I must agree the CP is the best of all the options I chose.

To the OP -- my opinion is get the newer car with the CP if its within your capability to do so... I found it to be completely fantastic as well. If you want the best performing M5,you need to start with a CP. The significant improvements even beyond the ECU changes are worth it... if you would rather chase a sound and a look vs. performance, skip the CP and buy all the cosmetics you list and an exhaust.
