Have no problem participating, however, there seems to be a lot of posts that either say "send me a PM" or will only answer questions via PM.

I presume they are just sellin a service but when 100 people ask the same question and the answer is "PM sent", I guess it gets annoying when you can't PM..

I totally agree. Also what happens if I dont have any valuable information to provide as I am a noob to BMWs and I am on here to gather as much information as possible but sometimes I can't because i cant send any PMs.

Same problem here--I can't PM.

The message I get on login is thanks for "verifying" my account, and I have to make "a certain number" of "verified post replies" and wait "7 days" for my account to be "upgraded."

I've searched all the forums and can't find any specifics on what any of these terms mean. I saw somewhere that I needed to make 7 posts (which I have), and earlier in this thread it looks like some of you found a requirement for 10 posts. I've emailed the admins at least three times with a respectful request to have my account upgraded but have received no response yet.

Honestly, this has been the most frustrating forum to register for that I've ever seen.

If you haven't "tl/dr" me yet, please post any tips you can on how to get full membership here. Thanks!

2) To scam someone, or treat BP as their personal Craigslist.

I'm not a new member but also not a prolific poster. I need help with the satnav in my new car and the person who can help will do so via PM...which led me to this thread. Considering that EVEN ADMIN think this system is flawed and site members have been complaining about it in this thread for TWELVE YEARS. Is it not high time this was changed?! I can't help thinking this issue will be driving members away from this forum in favour of other, more user friendly, ones and surely that's the opposite of what we all want. Just saying

A lot of these complaints would probably disappear if there was more clarity in terms of the requirements. The phrasing "you will have to make a certain number of verified post replies..." is needlessly vague and encourages people to seek out answers. How many? What does verified mean?
