Wow that's fast: Order Finalized and Production Has Begun

Just over a week ago, I finalized my order. Today, I call and find out the car already is in production with an estimated completion date of Tuesday, July 16. That was fast!

Now I'm freaking out about the color choice I made. I originally ordered Azurite, black full leather, and dark red sycamore trim. Then, at the last minute, I decided instead to go bold, and switched to SO, SO full leather, and standard aluminum trace trim based on mdevil's awesome pics. Please tell me I'm going to love this! I've seen SO exterior in person, but never SO leather. Now I'm second guessing myself, but all my other cars have been somewhat conservative.

For what it's worth, here's what I have currently in production:

2014 M5
Sakhir Orange Metallic
Sakhir Orange Full Merino Leather w/ Anthracite Alcantara Headliner (supposedly... I guess I'm also the guinea pig for the headliner color since 776 does not appear on my order form)
ZCP Competition Package (kept the 2TX wheels since I actually like them)
ZDB Driver Assistance Plus
ZEC Executive Package
ZLP Lighting Package
6F2 B&O system
6UK Night Vision

I hope I love it. And, I'm so looking forward to the agonizing wait while the car ships!

Let me know how the headliner arrives =) BMWNA did say they were going to make a change to the order guide but it was on a voice mail so she did not ask what change....

According to BMW NA, production is complete. Now I will be bugging my CA for the ship's name when one is assigned. That way I will hopefully be able to obsessively track the car's progress across the Atlantic.

When I ordered it I had same thoughts that if I made right choice or not. But when I saw it for first time I was so happy I order this combination. My friend also liked it who went with me for ED. I can say "its very different in a good way". I am sure you will like it when you will see it

Congrats.. Post pics when you will get it. I will post some more pics when I will get my car maybe next week ..

Thanks, mdevil. I would appreciate that. I must admit, it was your pics that convinced me to change my mind! As is typical, though, I always have second thoughts! When I ordered my Z435is, walnut leather had just been introduced and nobody really knew what it looked like. I angsted over that order until the car arrived and instantly fell in love!

I'm happy to report that my car is on the MV Tijuca. It left Southampton today and is now in the English Channel. Next stop, Baltimore on August 1! Now I'm getting excited. I'm sure I will be obsessively tracking the ship's journey across the Atlantic!

Believe it or not, my car has arrived at my dealer. He sent me this tease. Of course, things are hectic at work, and I don't know when I can get there to pick her up.

Right on! When you get it, can you post a pic of the car's side profile? Like to see if the drop with the competition springs is noticeable.

I couldn't resist the urge and had to stop by my dealer to take a sneak peak. The color combo is amazing. Far better than I could have imagined. The color both in and out looks so much better in person, and the wheels are incredible. Far better in the flesh. m54ccibo, I didn't get your post until after so I have no side profile pics yet, but here are a few teasers. I will be picking it up on Thursday. The car was in the service bay getting prepped (after hours) so the pics are just iPhone shots. And, the headliner is anthracite. The new iDrive knob is huge! All in all, I think I am going to like this beast! Really, though, the competition package wheels look so much better in person. The steering wheel looks great too. I was on visual overload, so I didn't get to check everything out. I really wanted to see if I had made a big mistake with SO on SO, but I can say I did not and am glad I changed my order last minute. I think it has been one month and two days since finalizing my order to delivery at my dealer. Btw, 27 other 2014s were delivered today too, so the 2014s are rolling in.
