Deka Clutches failed, having trouble getting support. Need your help with contact

I hope this messages finds you all well. I am reaching out to see if any of you have contact with the folks at Deka Clutches. I bought a set of stage 2 clutches a few months ago and had them installed by my trusted and competent indy bmw/euro shop here in Florida.

Unfortunately the clutches failed in a manner that was very perplexing to us, basically they warped and prevented the transmission from shifting properly. It seemed that the even gears struggled to shift.

My indy shop removed the clutches, reinstalled my oem clutches all at my expense and no discounts as it doesn't appear to be an install and breakin issue on their part. The shop reached out to deka to seek information but was getting slow responses. I have my car back now and trying to reach them and getting no responses.

I have reached out via phone and text to no avail. I am hoping someone in the group has a relationship with Deka Clutches and can get them to DM me with contact and shipping information on the clutches. Thank you in advance.

Wow, sorry to hear that. I took a quick look at their website and they only list clutches for inline 6 engine cars with DCT.

Is that what you got? I think there are some differences in the M5/M6 DCTs vs. the M3/M4 ones.

Not sure why they don’t list the m5/m6 but if you check in TMS you’ll see a more comprehensive list of the platforms.

My shop in Largo, Fl reached out Deka and got them to respond. I didnt buy the parts through my Indy shop and didn’t want to have them bothered with this process.

This is a tricky one because these third party resellers will say anything to take your money. I learned this lesson with that Extreme Power House guy on a set of AMS downpipes that were never delivered and never would have been.

I did get my money back, but missed out on the sale that AMS had. From now on I only get stuff from the manufacturer directly.

A full/partial refund would be in order and provide some positive light on this company. Let us know what they say when they respond to you.

I'm wondering if TMS didn't screw up and send you the wrong ones.

Deka sure has a crummy website. It may be worth a drive down to Miami and knock on their flipping door.

Sorry this happened to you. Hope you can get it resolved.

I went with the Project Gamma clutches at my engine builder’s request. No issues after 10k+ miles.

Despite not buying this part through my indy/performance euro car shop, they stepped in and contacted Deka for. I'll grab some pictures best I can and get these things shipped asap.

I wanted to work with the Deka folks directly out of hopes of getting a better understanding of what happened.

This might be my next play. I do value the shops time that works on our cars when I cannot and this is one of those jobs that I don't have the tooling or space for so I will have to pay full boat retail on the shop hours again. They run a business and have a lot of respect for them; I know this is the price of admission for these things so I don't want to pay for a third install and end up with issues. PG is on my radar for sure.

Great response TinCanSailor. I wonder if it’s better to go with a stock clutch, trans tune and keep the torque down.

For what it’s worth, last time I spoke to Steve Dinan’s guys at Carbahn they said they only use stock BMW clutches in their builds.

Too many problems with the other guys and BMW has a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty. How they navigate that given the extra power, idk.

Great to know for sure. It is hard to get helpful data on the options out there.

Javi is buried in work. Next oil change I'm taking my car up there and check out his shop. I follow him on fakebook, that guy's funny as hell.

Yessir, very busy folks and a very funny and friendly guy. A very family friendly group of folks and they are performance enthusiasts that are very active in running their own track Bimmer. You won't regret having them as trusted advisers/caregivers.

I just sent off a text to Deka to see if they had an opportunity to inspect or chat with my mechanics at Midnite Tuning. The clutches delivered on the 13th.

Just a lil follow up. The folks at Deka very graciously send me new clutches and were kind enough to send me the Stage 3 clutches. I have been pulled away for work so my car is in storage again for a little bit.

Additionally, the folks at Deka even extended an offer for me to have them install my clutch pack which I am strongly considering.

My sincerest apologies for the late follow up. I hope to have more news/info in November.
