Yes, this key works on all F10 M5, from 2011 to 2017, CIC or NBT. Mine is a 2014 M5, I use the key every day, works like a charm!
Please share your info on the key programmer!

@all: Key programming can only be done locally or at least within the US/Canada, since one original key and the CAS4 are required. I was totally transparent from the beginning, saying this display key can be programmed like any other aftermarket key. The BMW dealership can't do it, because it's not an original BMW key, the OEM display key can't be integrated in our cars!
The main issue with such key clones is the fact that nobody can program them, I purchased a few and ended up with paperweights myself, until I found this key and it's programmable.

There are key programmers that can do it in the US, I can't do it from here, because my programmer needs your CAS4 and one original key. Theoretically he can do it on any car, even US cars, but we would have to ship delicate parts around the world!

I spent a fortune now, the keys are on the way and will only work in the US, due to the frequency.
I do not own a store or do this for living, I just organized this group buy and even took the financial risk to assure proper working goods before asking for payment!
Hatem3: Please share your contact information, we need your programmer!!!

@all: These Display keys can be programmed like any other aftermarket key, they don't require special tools. There are sellers on this forum offering newer style keys for our F10, their equipment can also set up these keys. If you talk to a locksmith, please don't confuse them with talking about a highly sophisticated special key, since the programming is a standard operation. I will provide DIY instructions on the CAS4 removal process, then it's just dropping off or shipping this unit with one original key.
So, just contact a locksmith providing key duplicates or upgrade keys, they can program this key as well.
The display and its information are not programmed, the separate information module will deliver the data, so the key shows mileage, fuel range, alarm status, etc. without programming. In order to open/close/start your car, a professional needs to program the display car to your car, by using the CAS4 unit and your original key, since every car is defined by the CAS4 and its specific keys. If not, everyone could just copy your key and steal your car. So the programming is just about accessing and starting the car, the other functions will work right away, everything is included in the key set!

I called a few locksmiths locally and once they heard it was a BMW, one place said they don't do BMW's and rhe other place said they only program keys they can source.

If you could spell out (or your key guy) the process so they understand what needs to be done it might help us finding someone locally. I just asked if they could program an aftermarket key. Maybe that was too simple a question to ask.

Remote programming is not possible, since the original key and CAS4 is needed for the pairing process. My locksmith won't reveal the process, since he makes most of his money with key programming. But he normally only offers self sourced keys and still programmed my display key!
I gave him one original key and the CAS4, he returned a functioning display key, same configuration as my original key, the saved profile was taken over and therefore a full copy of my original key!

Please tell your locksmith to treat this key like any other aftermarket key, it can be programmed like any other key. My locksmith was skeptical at first and then he was totally surprised how easy the pairing process went!

Just checked my messages again and again, I didn't get your message. Please contact me again, I'm looking forward to talking to you. I'm more than eager to resolve the programming question, since I already spent more than $2500 on keys 🔑 In best case, we have a trustworthy locksmith to program all the buyers here and enjoy the keys!

Quick update: Hatem3 and I are working on finding a key programming solution, I forwarded him videos and pictures. If anyone wants a video of the functioning key, please message me. My Instagram m5sile also contains 2 videos, proofing the quality and full functionality of the display key.
We will find a solution, please be confident!

I made a few calls this am.. I am receiving quotes of $265 - $325 for programming the key. This is in the greater atlanta area.

I can't believe these programming prices are real 😳 I thought $100 is expensive already, but $250+ is just outrageous. And shipping your parts to my local programmer makes no sense either, since the shipping takes several days and isn't cheap either.
I called my locksmith today, he could offer an even better price, if there are enough customers, but he needs the CAS and one original key. Huge dilemma, Hatem3 and I are still working on a cheaper solution!

The inconsistency in programming prices is unreal.

I lived in Houston last year, had the new X5M blade key fob programmed for my f10, guy charged me $120 for two keys. Each key was only $40 so to me that was well worth it. I had quotes there as high as $350.

I’ve called about ten diff places and they’re all high here in Phoenix. Like others have said - people hear BMW and either don’t want to do it, or they charge up the ass.

Now we are talking. The key shown in your picture is programmed the same way like the display key. I believe that the locksmiths either just want to sell their own products or simply exaggerate, since they think the display key requires tons of programming. The display key basically consists of 2 sections: the basic key to open/close/start the car and the display itself to show car data. The display is fed by the module that comes with the kit, the key section is totally independent. So all the locksmith has to do is to pair the key section to the car, like any other key clone out there. My locksmith told me the same at the beginning, but I begged him to try and it worked right away, so the whole story here is about one locksmith to try it. Please also tell them that one successful programming session will result in more customers and better reputation in the community. We need to sell our idea of having display keys in our cars, best purchase for my car hands down!

I never told any one of the guys I’ve called that it was a display key.

That will surely turn them off.

Any other locksmith quotes so far for the US market?
I can only offer my local locksmith, but it requires shipping the CAS4 and 1 original key to Germany and then back to the US. At least it's guaranteed to work, since he programs quite a few US cars, that were imported.
After working out a shipping deal, I would hate to abandon this group buy and start all over. I pushed the button to purchase 10 keys on my own risk, now let's get this done as a team 👍🏻

Quick update:

The display keys are not here yet and I will be on business travel the entire next week, the goods should arrive during the week. I will give another update and provide pics once I have them on hand!
Furthermore, I'm working with 3 people in the US now to realize the programming for a reasonable price. I contacted my key supplier to provide detailed information on the necessary programming/locksmith tool and the entire cloning process. He told me to respond at the beginning of next week as well!

So, I'm trying hard to make this project happen for all of us. Enjoy your Sunday, we will talk soon!

I made that mistake here in the UK. guy wasn't interested. I need to go back and convince him it's just a regular key I need programming.

whatever you do , just say it's a normal key to program. don't mention display key.

New update:

My key supplier responded and I received detailed information about a key programming kit. I'm working with a US based BMW technician now to purchase this kit and enable him to program the display keys for you in the US. I plan on obtaining the same kit for my European customers and offer the key coding service from Germany. Once the US tech is ready to go, I will provide another update, we will test the process and assure proper functionality!

We are getting closer to have a US based programming solution, I'm very excited!
