Gentlemen Function DIY

Gentlemen function is standard on 7 series and allows you to move the passenger seat while using the driver controls. Need to source a part and some simple coding via bimmercode. Special thanks to member HEROFMINE for the instructions on how to do..

1) Source Part Left Door Memory Switch Part 61319215758; I found on ebay for $53

2) Remove existing door switch from car using simple plastic prying tool - it pops out pretty easily and don't need to remove door panel.

3) Switch the plastic back plates on the two panels - new part came in white but it needs the blue back to function properly. It's held on by simple plastic pins.

4) Reinstall memory switch in car by simple plug connection

5) using Bimmercode, you must Activate Gentlemen function for BOTH passenger and driver seat. Menu looks like 3000 SM_Global>Gentlemen>Aktiv

6) All Done! now you can move passenger seat from your driver controls using L2 button.

Nice find! This something I'd never heard of before, and I've had a bunch of bmws as far back as e23.

Nice write up! Performed this mod yesterday. You don't realize how convenient this is until you have a guest passenger with their knees in the dash and stumbles around to adjust the seat. Super easy to do. Thank you!!

You can also use E-Sys for coding.

SM [6d] => 3000 SM_GLOBAL => Funktionen => GENTLEMAN => Ausgelesen => active
SM [6e] => 3000 SM_GLOBAL => Funktionen => GENTLEMAN => Ausgelesen => active

Some screenshots from E-Sys:

Cool. Got mine in the mail, will code this up tonight.

Incidentally, we might want to call this something else besides "gentleman's function", because I think that describes something completely different...

Looks like this part was superseded by 61319361190.

Do these controls allow the driver to move the passenger seat in all directions or just engage presets for the passenger?

In my F02, you press the L2 button and then you're able to move the passenger seat in all directions via the controls on your driver's seat.

Yes it is the same part as on the 7 and it functions the same.

Thank you very much! I just installed today with the updated part number I posted. Works like a charm.

Hi guys. I tryed this retrofit, but somethings feels like missing, I can only see Driver side modul and I don’t see any seat Passenger modul when I tryed to code gentlman function there. Feels strange that my car don’t have a module on passenger side.

My car is with standard M5 f10 seats, only Memory on driver side with 1 and 2 button. The passenger does not have any Memory at al, but it is electric seats.

Someone can help me whats the fault?

Regards

Did the install yesterday and the instructions above are excellent.

In terms of your issue, I thought the passenger memory was standard and not part of the executive package. When I was programming via Bimmercode, I coded the passenger side module first and when I went back to the root menu in Bimmercode, the driver side module option disappeared. I just disconnected the app and restarted it and the driver side module option appeared again. Did you try restarting the app?

Do you know if you have the executive package on your car? Heated and ventilated seats along with comfort access is part of that package but doesn't say anything about the memory passenger function. Having absence of that may be the mitigating factor in getting the gentlemen's function working.

Is this suppose to also allow us to turn on/off the massage function on the passenger seat as well? I installed and coded mine and it allows me to do all the functions on the passenger seat except turning on/off the massage function.

believe it just allows movement and not the massage function.

I just did this, followed everything you did and it works flawlessly! I love it, I also found one on eBay for $49 compared to the new ones which were running for around $105. Much appreciated

This is a really cool and functional feature..Glad it was a quick retrofit..

(Sorta reminds me of those MB controls on rear passenger side seats in Chinese cars where the rear passenger can move the front passenger seat however they need to)
