B&O Speaker Issue
Hi All,
I'm hearing a loud crackle when the bass is turned up on the passenger side B&O speaker on the door. Not sure if it could be a damaged wire or is it just the speaker going bad? not sure if anyone has had any experience with this issue and if anyone has a solution.... thanks. |

Yea a blown speaker is what i thought but didn't know if there could have been another possible issue. I haven't repaired anything in the interior trim so that's not it. Any idea where i can get a replacement speaker? Do you know about how much that will run me?

I had one replaced under warranty by dealer; I would think that’s the best place to start to ensure it’s a blown speaker.
If you need a new speaker you can always post in the classifieds here and see what pops up.

Check your door pockets and make sure there is nothing there . then take a look under the seat and make sure there are no papers on top of the factory subs under the seat

I checked the door pockets and under the seat and i didnt find any trash or coins, etc. I still have to remove the door panel to check in there too but i'm thinking it might be a blown speaker. And if it is, i'm not quite sure where to find a replacement. I searched around different sites but i could only find the complete system (all speakers) and not separate pieces sold individually.

So quick question for everyone....i'm trying to decide whether to just get the OEM replacement for my blown subwoofer or getting a pair of ghost subwoofers from bavsound.com....apparently they are awesome subs ($600 for the pair). Although i'm not sure if they are comparable with my B&O subs or are they better, worse? When i looked up the part number for the sub (65-13-9-169-688), it isn't quite clear whether or not these is a special B&O sub or not because they are compatible with a bunch of other BMW lines that likely don't have the B&O option. What are your thoughts?

I actually just got them in today and installed, so far they sound really good but i know they need about 10-12 hours of usage to break in. They fit perfectly though.
