Here's a good reason why we can never really trust Press Car numbers.

Somethings not right here.

Didn't the M5, when it first came out in the press, have some minor tweak or tune for more hp. I had that "press tune" installed and my car was indeed faster than the OEM version and it was OBDII.

Dave, It's not impossible for many reasons... maybe 458 italia has a minor tune or race gas?
on the other hand especiale is just 200 lb lighter and has about 20-30 more power and basically at about 600 hp, it's a little tricky if driver does not have enough skill to control the car the way that a light car can put that power down correctly. meanwhile, how do you know if the driver of italia weighs just 160 lb while the especiale has a fat driver and a fat passenger for total of +400 lb to offset the weight and power difference?? ... BTW, I weigh 200 lb ... just saying LOL

That can't be real. Speciale has more down force, so the extra horses are likely negated to some extent. No way a stock Italia pulls on the Speciale.

I concur having owned a slightly modded 458 and driven a Speciale. I saw this vid a while back; its suspect as to whats in the 458. Peak hp gives a slight advantage to the Speciale along with weight but I also think the 4k to 8k rpm range has a bigger gap in gains for the S.

Yes, the drive very much so (it was a while back) and I would love to own one and mod the exhaust. The car is so light feeling and the steering and throttle/engine response amazing. I did feel more comfortable pushing the car than I did with my 458.

I did agree with you-- that the sound is lighter than I expected but then I had a catless Capristo on my 458 which was almost obnoxious (in a good way).

Spot on! U guys have it good there being able to mod the exhaust so freely. I have heard a catless V8 Ferrari before and it was a riot. Too much trouble to do that here with the dealer breathing down your neck and the bi-yearly inspection. The Huracan sounds a lot better stock!
