Gunmetal would be my vote as it does give contrast to the car. Here's a picture of the ADVAN RS (which is similar to the VMR 701) in Dark Gunmetal on a Jet Black coupe for you to check out.

Gunmetal looks clean but if you are planning on blacking out the car, I would do matte black to match.

I thought about ordering the matte black because I eventually may paint the car white..hmm.. this is beginning to become annoying.

Gunmetal for sure. Matte black wheels look cheap to me. Their finish is also less durable since it lacks clear coat which also makes them harder to clean.

I think a safe route to take with both cars would be Gun Metal if you are open to GM on White.

I love the Advan RS wheels, the VMR's are also very close.

The Advan wheels are a little darker which I like 10x more, but the regular gunmetal VMR's aren't bad. Too bad their gunmetal isn't a little darker.

I have a jet black sedan, I plan on putting some gunmetal wheels on... I hope to find someone selling some Advan RS wheels come springtime!!

Definitely gunmetal (or even silver) on Jet Black. The murdered out (black on black) look is kinda ugly. Gunmetal looks great on a black E90/E92. Same reason why matte black looks good on a graphite car.

I'm running matte black on my SGM E90 right now, and I like it, because it's just enough contrast, so it looks clean. Gunmetal on yours would create just enough contrast, plus you'll be able to see the wheel design better. Sometimes I wish I had a black car.

gunmetal. i personally hate black wheels. zero contrast and looks cheap. why get wheels if you can't even see the design?
