I've used up my fun cash for the month. Maybe powder coat my wheels satin black next with 12mm spacers. Then DPs/Tune (or JB4), KW V3 is on the list. I can't decide on the exhaust brand until I decide on DPs (AWE for Catless DPs and Fabspeed for OEM DPs). Eventuri intakes look awesome, but it will be last on my mod list.

I would rather have a DME tune by Mo, but I haven't kept a single BMW past 2yrs. The benefit of JB4 is I can easily remove it and re-sell the unit when I trade my car in. I might keep this M5 until the next gen comes out. The GM at my dealership will save me the first slot for the new model. But if the next M5 cost more than $125k loaded, I might just get a lightly used 911 Turbo S.

Update. Do not use double sided tapes to attach CF spoiler (easy for theft and they will come loose). Instead, use Betalink adhesive or equivalent, which is recommended by BMW M Performance.

If you plan to remove the spoiler one day, then go to your local body shop or professional automotive paint store to buy commercial grade double sided tape. The ones at Home Depot are rated 5-20lbs, not enough to hold a spoiler that generates 150lbs+ of force.

Nice write up, man. The car is looking great!

I might pick up that front lip spoiler now.

Best,
Brad

Thank you. Don't forget to buy Betalink or BMW adhesive for the spoiler. Especially the guys hitting 200mph, don't use over the counter 3M double sided tape (5lbs). If you hit that speed, your spoiler can produce around 300lbs of down force.

I'm having my local body shop to re-do mine. I want the spoiler on strong enough to survive 200mph runs.

Wow...they want $12 for shipping for the Betalink adhesive! Know of anywhere else that has free shipping?

Looks great. I had/have the twins of your cars but in series (replaced my SG M5 with a DG X5M). Agree with your assessments of pros and cons. I miss the M5 but it was a no go with any snow and my driveway/street even with a dedicated winter wheel/tire set.

Your dealer should have something similar. I took mine to a trusted body shop, they use industrial grade double sided tape along with polymer adhesive (same stuff used to glue quarter panels together). My spoiler is never coming off now. I was willing to pay $50, but they charged me $25.

Sup buddy. Your M5 with winter tires didn't do well on snow? There's a member on this forum who just did 4k miles on his M5 in the winter. I had a few RWD BMWs in the past, no issues on snow.

Snow and flat roads are no issue.

Going up hills is another story altogether. My driveway is uphill bordered by two stone walls with a 90 degree turn 75% of the way up. Looks great but is a major challenge with a rear wheel drive car. Actually some front wheel cars have failed to make it up my driveway.

I could have done it with studded tires but that has other issues.

Miss the M5 but love the X5M for the reasons you stated. I hope to be back in a M5 with the next generation if it is indeed AWD.

Makes sense. The new X5M interior is light years ahead of the current M5.

I'm actually planning to trade my X5M for the F90 M5. It should be available to order next Spring.

The new M5 should be lighter, AWD, and 600HP. 0-60 in less than 3.3sec.

Save up and definitely go with Akrapovic paired with DPs!

I used 3M VHB on my spoiler and it's perfect. I'm sure it would have the same result on the front lip as well.

Thanks so much for the info. I just ordered some 3M VHB 1"x9ft for the front lip. My rear spoiler is attached with polymer, it's not going no where.

It's good stuff because it's a bit thicker so will make good contact even if fitment of the carbon fiber product isn't 100%. Good luck and keep us posted!

I hope F10M5Manual is using 3M VHB since he's hitting 205mph with his M5.
