personally there are perks to both. -bridstones good quiet good for cold temps tracked well on all surfaces good for cold weather -bad traction is terrible for these cars, I had 295 rears and broke them loose at 60mph. cornering the car leans more, definitely feel the weight of the car. in general just not a very sporty tire. -PS4S good great grip Corning grip vastly improved and the car stay much more level. actually takes bumps better than the bridgestone -bad the car doesn't track as well, falls towards the side of the road, with the slope of the road(had an alignmemt done to make sure that there wasn't and issue.) no good for anything beneath 40 degrees |

I’m going to be getting tires here in the next month and I will be driving in temps well under 40, but it only snows maybe once a year. For a daily driven commuter that occasionally hits the mountains I’m leaning towards the Bridgestone tires. Was going 275 front and 305 rear so maybe that would help with traction some.
I wish I could get AS3+ tires in M5 sizes. Does anyone else have any good 4 season tire suggestions? |

I have found the Michelin Pilot 4 All Season and really want them. They were just released and only have two sizes available on tire rack so far.

Was hoping to here a bit more input.
So, what about Michelin Pilot 4 All Season's? There fitted on the C8 Corvette so they have to be pretty decent. Sadly, sizes are limited right now. I could so 265/40-20 and 305/35-20. Thoughts? I talked to a guy running those sizes with no issues with PS4S's. |

I ended up ordering the Bridgestone RE980AS in 265/35 305/30. Hope I like them, was really hoping the Michelin AS4’s would be released in compatible sizes.

BAD NEWS: This past week we got 2 inches of snow in Maryland and tires were barely useable. Then, later that same day, we got a good amount of sleet and ice.
The tires were useless in snow with ice on top. I literally had to go up a very minor grade backwards to get home. These tires, when 305 mm wide, are useless in snow with ice and may not be much better at lesser widths. These tires are much better than summer tires when road was below 40 degrees F and without snow and ice. To drive this vehicle in snow of any kind, it appears it may be best just to make the investment with a dedicated set of smaller and thinner wheels and true winter tires.

And like previously stated by 1320 the tires aren't great for snow but are good in the cold. Unfortunately at 305mm no tire will grip well in the snow. For winter sets of tires with snow in mind its a good idea to stretch the tire to fit. Maybe a 275 or 285mm would work best. I personally have two sets of tires and just have them swapped between seasons and for the snowy days I switch to my winter beater. |

No worries guys. I'm more worried about the cold. Very rarely snows here. I have a Jeep Cherokee 4x4 if it really snows. Tires are great though. Thrashed them in the mountains today with my my friend and his M3 on MP4S's and I can keep up all day long.

Interesting write up 1320! The wear your tires show in the side by side view is identical to what I see on my cars MPSS's and very similar to how my E90 wore tires. Neither cars have ever been in an accident, this is how the suspension is set up by BMW. They have negative camber, some in the extreme-look at the e53! If you hustle the car on winding roads, getting deep into the throttle on corner exit, that inside rear is doing lots of work and wears faster. My rears are about done with a bit over 10k on them.

1320racer, would be interested in touching base with you. Same things with my 13 M5, quite honestly after 20 months now of ownership I am considering selling. I have owned 3 e39 540is, one a wagon. Miss those babies. I am just up 81 in PA

I'm still really liking these tires. They are wearing slowly so far and looking good. They handle fast twisty stuff at the Dragon very well.
No snow or ice but they've been great in cold temps. I do run boost by gear to try and keep things in check. |

Still rocking these tires. Treat tires were at 2/32 at 10k miles but the replacements were about half price for to the tread wear warranty through Discount Tire. Still a ready great tire if you drive a lot.

Tire Impressions for Bridgestone PTZ RE980AS beyond 20K miles
After just over 20K miles, here's how the tires have performed.

I'm still loving them. The first set of rears lasted 10k miles. Traction is still impressive. I ran the Dragon in the pouring rain Friday and they stuck great and inspired confidence as always. You can still break them loose in first of course, but that's with pretty much any tire.

FINAL UPDATE of Bridgestone RE980AS tire
FINAL UPDATE:
From 71,XXX to 109,XXX miles Tread Life: FRONT 3.5 to 4/10ths and REAR (Not Applicable) My rear tires were unfortunately replaced multiple times due to large punctures by road debris including random pieces of metal and bolts. I am now running on the rear, MichelinPilot Sport All Season 4 at the OEM size (295/30/20). The 305 section width tire option seem to only be available as zero pressure (AKA run-flat) tire. This run-flat tire, is fitted on the C8 Corvette.Likes: Fantastic in terms of tread wear Still do not follow groves in the road Transmit only major road expansion joints into the cabin Tire noise on certain road surfaces remain present, but still rather quiet for the tires with over 38k miles Still maintain good traction in wet and dry weather during cool temperatures I like the tire’s sidewall appearance Dislikes: Aggressive turn-in at high speeds is now compromised when compared to both sets of Michelin summer tires. These heavy tires are still reducing the vehicle's gas mileage Independent of being old or new, they never worked well on a prepped drag strip. Here are my findings… - Best rear tire pressure to launch the car was 27 PSI - The tire’s hard center cap seems to cause axel hop, more than other tires, on a prepped drag strip. Axle hop only happened at the drag strip, not on normal road surfaces.
