Key question is in bold above. I don't think e race retains the valve, though I'm sure others will correct me if I'm mistaken.

Well that makes my decision easy. lol Thanks for the info. The E-Race is loud enough as it is (especially at cold start), so I wanted to not be that obnoxious neighbor if I had the option to close the valves. Oh well, back to being obnoxious!

When you turn all the settings to max on the M5 doesn't that open the flaps constantly or do they still close a lot?

He never truly figured it out. His original tips were weld on. After I pointed out that the OEM fitment is slip-on, he developed a bolt-on. Not sure why he did bolt-on instead of slip-on. Wald makes slip-on tips for many cars.

So sweet, exactly what I was looking for. Do I need to ask for special coding or anything when ordering?

Nope. Just indicate its for an M5, although I think all F10 applications are the same.

Admire me at the stop light, but the saying "don't start none, won't be none" comes to mind. I don't like to announce my presence too much. My issue with the exhaust note was not so much volume but tone. Wanted it deeper, more aggressive. One night, I followed my car while my wife was driving and was amazed at how often the exhaust valve operated. Closed more often than opened. When we got home, I took a screwdriver and opened the valve an was amazed at how much better it sounded. Enter the ExhaustMeister. I saw this device advertised in the Sponsors Classified forum and was intrigued. You remotely control the valve! I contacted them and they were extremely helpful. They hadn't tried it on an M5, but within a week they had located one and posted excellent installation instructions on their website. I figured for the relatively small price they were asking I'd try it. The quality of the harness is excellent. Looks OEM. Took me 15 minutes for installation. The sound improvement is amazing! Comparable to Eisenmann Sport. Without the $4k okey-doke. Seriously. And of course no drone, as it's the stock exhaust. And I can control the sound with a push of a button. Pulled into the hospital this morning and a guy says "that car sounds awesome". NEVER got that from stock. Hope to post sound clips this weekend. Happy camper.
Please post video's of this in action on your car if you don't mind.

Great find!

Did you install yourself?

Yep John. Originally did that with mine. It is not like the exhaust note is "loud" so to speak with the valves open and once you open them you probably will never want to close them again. It is a very nice, non-obnoxious note. Easier IMO to just wire them and leave them.

Best solution for me turned out to be a modified OEM exhaust I got from Noelle in Germany that has a wider inner pipe that is more of a straight pipe. Coupled with the DP it is about 50% louder than stock, ZERO drone and NOT obnoxious. VERY nice, throaty, "tuned" sound. It is PERFECT for guys like me who don't want to be that "loud" guy at the light and just like to let out a nice tuned note while driving and to be heard well when WOT (even then not obnoxious. Just a perfect finely tuned powerful M5 sound. It is one people hear and say "wow, that sounds REALLY nice-not "whoa..that's loud!" I think it sounds like what the M6/5 should sound like from the factory.Probably what we all expected.) These who like the E-Race, etc. will NOT like it. Those wanting more "classy mean" and not want to shake the house when you start it will find it to be sweet music to their ears ) Only bad thing is that I may need to sell it in 60 days when the M6 arrives as I don't think it fits the M6! I will get another set though!

I like your idea. I am installing catless DP's with the stock exhaust and will go from there. Decisions, decisions.

While the car is at idle, look inside the mufflers and the outer pipes will have a flap that's closed. Simply take a screwdriver or whatever and push on it to open. Check the video on the ExhaustMeister website to see it operate.

BTW, you can't appreciate the difference of this mod unless you have someone else do a drive by with your car. The difference is amazing. The sound insulation inside our car is overdone IMO for a performance vehicle.

Does this switch alternate between Valve open and closed (is it makes valves manual)?

Or does it alternate between OEM auto control and Open which means you can set to open, or set it to automatically open and close as it does right now?

Also can someone post a DIY?

Totally manual. You can leave it open or closed, which is really on (open) or off. It defaults to OEM when off. Installation instructions at http://www.exhaustmeister.com/instal...-2009-present/" rel="" target="_blank">http://<a href="http://www.exhaustme...9-present/</a>

Weekend in Toronto. Had two separate incidences where I was complemented and asked which exhaust I had. The Cyba tips threw them off. Amazing.

If it is defaulting to OEM when off, that means you have Active valve control when off, and permanently open when on. Is that right?

Not sure what you're asking. You can open and close the valve whenever you like while you're driving. Push on, the valve stays open. Push off, it goes to default OEM mode.
