I've been reading that the best shoes for walking are actually running shoes. So today I went to a dedicated running shoe store and had a 3D scan of my feet done. The saleswoman brought out 3 pairs of shoes with slightly different specs and features. I ended up with these New Balance 1080 shoes with custom inserts. These are the most comfortable shoes I've worn in years. Love the spring in them when walking. Wifey also got some new sneaks. Now I need to find some every day shoes and keep these for walking and the gym.

Don’t run much anymore, mostly walk but I’ve been wearing the NB 1080’s for years. In fact it’s almost time for a new pair.

We are city dwellers and walk ALOT. I have three pairs at any time (minimum) and typically burn through a pair in about three-four months. Running shoes ftw.

Personally, I’m not a fan of NB; although, I have a pair for about two years. It only has about 25 miles on it.

My wife loves NB though and keeps a pair in her rotation.

Brooks running shoes are my walking shoes of choice. Been wearing them for years. Currently wearing Brooks Addiction GTS. Great shoes.

I bought a pair of ghosts once. Walked .75 miles and my knee started hurting like crazy.

Surprisingly, two styles of Allbirds work amazing for me. There rest are meh. And, there is a store 1.5 blocks from us. I also order a pair of custom Nike Pegasus every year.

I used to love saucony, but those changed for the worse about four/five years ago.

No knee pain here, but I do exercises for my knees and legs besides walking 3 miles almost every night. Squats, lunges, stair stepping and more, all with weights.

Not bad for 70 years old.

It was just those damn ghosts. Keep it up!

I started doing stability/core exercises three/four days about a year ago. Plus, I walk 5-6 days a week. Sometimes, 10-12 miles in a day. Average 4.5/5 miles per day.

Good to know about the Ghosts. Nothing's perfect...

You keep it up as well.

I have a pair of NB Fresh Foam 840 for everyday use and a pair of Brooks Ghost Max for walking for exercise (both about due for replacement). I prefer NB and Brooks to accommodate my wide feet and a neutral shoe because of my tendency for supination (foot rolls outward when walking). For those with overpronation (foot rolls inward) these will not work as well as a stabilizing shoe. Not that long ago, I didn’t realize shoes were made differently for different feet. Guess that’s part of the reason they cost so much.

I always shake my head at the people walking in front of me with their shoes fully compressed inward. They are basically walking on the side of the shoe. Like, buy the proper fitting shoe!

We had scans at both fleet feet and road runner. I have a pretty neutral foot, so can wear a lot. My wife has flat feet, so she is a bit more limited.

I custom order the Pegasus, so I can get a wide. Nike’s run super narrow, but the EE is too wide for me.

I've always thought I had wide feet, but the scan showed that my feet are on the narrow side of normal. I get a nasty callus on the right side of my right foot. The shoe tech said I'm most likely walking on the side of that foot. That makes sense as my heels often wear down at an angle on that side. So my new shoes are supposed to correct that. I just wish that store sold more than running shoes.

New laptop. I wanted one for an upcoming trip, and to replace the wife's aging Windows 10 desktop after that. It has the dual OLED display, it looks fantastic in person.

I have been rocking NB for over 8 years and just got a new set for my every day wear. I wear them to work and out and about. Very comfortable and best looking shoe out there to be honest. I am very picky.

Picked these up in white and grey!

Who knew that carbon fiber wasn't just for BMW's? After a few decades, I finally gave into a CF tripod.

+1 for another NB 1080 fan. Just bought a new pair myself. Fourth pair of 1080s for me, they are great. I use them for walking, low/moderate mileage running and everyday wear. My brother the Boston marathoner wears them for high mileage training and every day wear.

I'm thinking about getting another pair for every day use. They're so comfortable.

My custom designed/made Calfskin, Crocodile print Oxfords, with Norwegian welt.
This is the second pair I have ordered from a talented third generation Shoemaker.
I specified every detail of this pair and I'm pumped to wear these with my recent suits for the Fall.
