I bought this car with the intent to put miles on it. A lot of miles. Success. It's a rocket, completely bonkers, also comfortable and (in my experience) unbelievably reliable.

Pulled over and took a photo. I don't do car photos very often - so of course the gas lid was open.

To 140 and beyond.
I didn't notice the gas door until you said that awesome picture though!

Bought her a few weeks ago with 46,185km on the odometer.

I did an oil change at 46,388km with BMW 0W30 and filter. The oil was pretty brown for 1 year old and 2,000km... PO rarely drove it over the past year and when he did, they were short trips.

Oh she drives so much nicer with fresh oil

My full stock M6 is 8 years old and 46,000 miles on the odometer. I drive 85% highway around 3k to 3.5k rpm at 7th gear (so you can image the speed). Oil consumption is quiet low which is about 3-4k miles per litter.

1. Rear window shade stopped working around 35,000 miles (ignored it)

2. AC hose replaced around 38,000 miles (Dealer asked $500 to diagnosis and replace. This is probably because I did not use AC very often)

3. Upper Pan Seal replaced around 42,000 miles (Dealer asked $5K to replace)

4. I got the rattling noise from transmission at idling around 38,000 miles. (It should be the part 28102284678 as other discussed before. I decide just to ignore it.)

5. Driver side soft close door stopped working around 43,000 miles (Dealer asked about $1.2k)

6. Crank case ventilation hose leak around 44,000 miles (Dealer asked about $600 to replace)

7. Dealer stated that Mass Airflow Sensor was covered with engine oil and need to replace due to Crank case ventilation hose leak around 44,000 miles (Dealer asked about $1.3k to replace, but this could be cleaned for reuse)

8. My windows start not roll up completely now at 46,000 miles. (this is probably only happen on M6s because they have borderless window. I had a f10 535i which never had this problem)

9. Noticed my Charge Pipe is leaking slightly because the clamp is loosing (I think this should a Cheap and easy fix)

Basically, the repair cost on engine for my car over 8 years with 45,000 miles is about $5.6k, which is kind acceptable for an $130k car.

I would say the engine is pretty reliable as long as don't rev it hard during warm up. Maybe stop and go traffic will also kill the engine. Other than engine, every show off features are like to fail before 50,000 miles, I would rather have a car without soft close door or window shade.

Also, I predict that the rod bushings would fail before 70,000 miles, since the car is pretty heavy plus bumpy California roads.

Overall, M5 and M6 are very solid cars. My only compliant is that I wish if the stock can sounds like the one on F90 M5.

almost 62,000 miles on my 2014 Comp. Been running Dinan tune Stage II since about 45k miles. Car is very reliable and doesn't burn any oil which really surprises me.

My 2014 F10 M5 LCI is at 162000 km now, a little over 100k miles!
Still running strong, no major issues up to now.
A proactive rod bearing change is scheduled though, in a few weeks, for the piece of mind. Also planned is a DCT fluid flush

Sure, I plan on providing a small documentation on the rod bearing change. We will use stronger ACL bearings to replace the OEM bearings!

did you re-paint the caliper? Mine looks little faded, and there is red color showing through. Also the M emblem on my caliper is faded on my car. Mine has 57k miles.

Just hit 50k miles and no issues, the s63 is very reliable minus a little of oil burn depending on the type of oil you use.

Like someone else said, the issues is only for ppl with unreliable tunes.

No, original calipers since day 1. High pressure washing and aggressive cleaners will damage the color though. Mine are also ceramic coated, best investment ever!

Item #4 - can you help me to understand where the rattle is heard at idle? Any input

Where is the noise detectable on item 4 ? Behind front wheels? How loud? Can you elaborate more? Is it still doing it ?
