My 2014 BMW M5 - Massachusetts

Just bought off second owner, private sale! Did the research, reviewed the maintenance, talked in depth with 2nd owner, drove it, love it!

Also found the advertisement from the dealership that had it in 2018 and it sold for $70K.

Did these come from factory with front and rear reflectors painted? The second owner didn’t paint the reflectors and I wouldn’t think the first owner (leased from Rallye BMw on Long Island) would have done this to a leased car?

Anyone know the prior owner down in Old Waterbury area?

Congrats! Those don’t come with painted reflectors so one of previous owners must have done it. I think is personal preference. I personally like the orange but a lot of people don’t.

They probably look at it like tint. Simple cosmetic change that doesn't impact the value or integrity of the car. They may not have even noticed it.

Reflectors are some kind of safety mandate I believe. If so, car can't be sold with painted reflectors new. People do cosmetic stuff to leased cars. Who knows, maybe it did affect the residual value. I'm also in Mass. Bring it to the track one day.

Become a BMW CCA member and you should get a sizable discount on your first day. Schedule is on their website. I instruct with them but haven't had time for the track in a couple of years. I may go to the NHMS event in April.
