I have just spent three days on a car trip over lovely roads in North Wales, dabbling with a McLaren 675LT and 911. The issue I had at the start was the lack of control and balance on the limit as the car broke away it was usually quite out of shape and showing its weight. The balance still too heavy on the front with understeer and this is with full hard on the rear Dinan roll bars

I have experimented a lot with bump and rebound front and rear and now achieved a superb chassis balance. It stays in shape at the limit and the break away is balanced so a great deal higher and you can control the car when you break away easily under throttle

I now also run a higher rebound ratio and have increased the rear bump settings higher than the front to keep the nose tight

At normal driving speeds it feels dramatically better too, much better turn in and much more planted. The only thing I'd like to do is add a little more front camber but can only do this with a lot of expense

With stock suspension why are you running stiffer front and only medium rear, the car must feel understeer as you near the limit ?
I could be wrong about the final settings I had. I recall when I first got them installed, the car did have major understeer and going over bumps felt like shit. They made some adjustments to the sways and it improved a lot from where it was. I'm not a suspension expert so I let the DINAN specialist at BMW make the changes necessary based on my feedback. My car was also a DD so didn't see any track time to truly test it out.

Okay tks

I will check when I get underneath again but I think I am currently running

F rebound 3 Bump 2, R rebound 5 Bump 3 with full hard on the roll bars

The recommended settings are a F6,4 R 9,5 and this is 'open' with 18 being full soft on rebound and 12 full soft on bump. 0,0 full hard

So I'm up 3 rebound/2 bump front and 4 rebound/ 2 bump rear higher than recommended. But still experimenting a little, it's tough to find locations to really explore the limits when I'm back home

Feels just right. Less roll and slightly stiffer springs.

I took it over the mountains into Palm Desert and it felt perfectly balanced as I took hard corners. Not the best place to test out the new suspension given the 100ft cliffs, but still fun and informational

Thanks for the sweet deal! When I find the time I will lower one notch down and add Umnitza lights... They are a must have.

Came across this thread, thought i would be able to get some insight on your guys' experience thus far with the KW HAS and Dinan Sways setup, by now you guys are probably pros with this stuff. Been reading a lot, would appreciate any feedback, on running this setup long-term. Right now my car is all stock, except for e-race non-cp.

I love it. No complaints. No squeaks and a nice firm suspension.

I'm still grinning and extremely satisfied since my original post with the install. Great for daily driving with the family and perfect for staying glued to M3's on our twisty drives here for fun with the crew.

Awesome, thanks for the response guys! Glad to hear the positive feedback. I've been on the fence for either v3 or HAS but from what i have read, i probably don't need the v3 since it is not a daily for me and I don't plan to track the car. Just looking to reduce body roll and a little better handling.

Also, did you guys experience any uneven tread wear on the tires from lowering the car?
do i need corner balancing or is that just for the V3 setup (sorry for the lack of knowledge here). Still learning the car!

Thanks!

Can someone provide feedback on alignment. I heard it’s due two weeks after installation, and I also heard it’s roughly 500 miles. Now, for some people 500 miles equates around two weeks. I probably drive around 300 a month (due to my job).

Install and wait for springs to settle before aligning; I waited about a month and then adjusted springs one last time before aligning.

Installed HAS kit about a week ago, and from the get go start hearing this hallowed clunking noise. However, this noise is not constant and it can be heard during the driving on irregular road surface. Has anyone else experienced this type of noise?

No issues here with clunking noise; on the car for about 2 years now.

I assume you've taken it back to the original shop. If not, I would start there and see if they have an answer for what's going on.
