It's the 0-60 or maybe 0-100 that counts, I'd say even 100 is a stretch. 99.9% of us will enjoy this car in daily driving situations within speed limits. I don't mean below 65 mph, I mean possibly below 100. We are not going to drive at 130.

I had my M5 for about 3000 miles, and while I did enjoy that amazing power, I'd rather have something that is more usable, that I can easily maneuver in daily driving and I can "safely" enjoy. My biggest gripe with the M5 was its lack of communication. I was warned about this, people told me that "you'll get in trouble if you try to drive that car to enjoy it" and they were right. I can switch gears at 2500 rpm on my M3 and the same amount of seratonin in my brain would require maybe 4500-5000 rpm in the M5. It just didn't feel like it was going fast. I know it was, speedometer was saying otherwise.

This is like comparing a 747 to the M3. Who cares which one is faster? The question is, which one is more fun? Which one is more practical? Which one can handle the actual daily driving better? The traffic, the parking in a city like Manhattan or London, pot holes, I mean you name it. M5 is a very very exclusive car, but with that exclusivity comes impracticality. Every time I parked that car, every time I drove in NYC, I would sweat like a pig and get all stressed out. Now I feel like I'm home in my M3. The first time I sat on it and drove out of the dealership I was like "heck yeah!". I don't need to worry about "is it going to fit there".

If anyone is in east coast NY/NJ/MA/PHI area, I am happy to meet and do a comparison. We all know M3 will pull ahead all the way to 80-90, but after that M5 will take over and probably put 2-3 car lengths on the M3. So I don't know what we are comparing.

What a load of delusional BS!

My M5 with just K&N drop-in air filters and Supersprint mufflers put down 0-60mph in 3.67s and 0-100mph in 7.70s. It had no other mods and was saddled by my 240lbs... And since you seemed to care too much about what shape M5 drivers are in the other thread, I can still bench press 400lbs (i.e. Muscle weighs more than fat). Getting back to the acceleration figures, they were on a private road...no track prep and no Launch Control, but traction control in MDM. I would like to see an F80 M3/4 beat that.

All should be settled next weekend at the MPact event. Lol! I'm sure that there will be some M4's there willing to do the rolling race with me. I don't care if my car is modded and making over 700hp or not, they can mod too for all I care. I'll be bringing my best guns and I hope that others do the same.

Oh and I'll be brining all of my GoPros.

My point was that my car was basically stock and even the mods it had wouldn't even equal the HP of a Competition Package car. Just in case he would say that real world #s were slower or the press cars were ringers.

BTW, I believe the quickest magazine test 0-60mph of an F10 M5 was 3.6s by Road & Track:

Well it's a good sign that the early owners aren't stupid enough to incriminate themselves online.

That slope helped with your times. I will be doing some vbox runs out in west texas when I can get out there in the next few days. I would have been out there today but my wife is recovering from a minor surgical procedure and I had to stay home to take care of her. I hope to find some good flat runs out there. The best I could do on a fairly flat surface was 4.2 on 0-60 and 12.5 quarter at 119, the MDM mash stuff was no good at all. Course that trap speed just shows you how damn fast the car is. I probably had a 2.5s 60ft time and still finished at 119. When the people touting their fast quarter times have low ETs and lower trap speeds, they aren't demonstrating a fast car, just good traction. I am also hoping that new tires will make a difference. The old ones had 13k on them but still had good tread depth. I got my best time with DSC off, S3 and sport plus on the gas. I shifted off the HUD display lighting up. I really had a hard time with traction.

The slope definitely helped the 1/4mile trap speed, but I believe it actually starts to go uphill and then down hill on that particular stretch of road. I can check my file to see. but the 0-60mph time was probably with little to no slope once you factor the uphill piece.

Traction is definitely the key. My tires now have much more wear and dont stick as well as they used to.

Sorry guys taking turns at 80+ and having like zero body roll is fun for a temporary 78k car lol I couldn't get the amenities necessary to enjoy a 911 for that price, plus growing up in a turbo S has spoiled me that I don't view anything other than the Turbo/ Gt3 as real 911's [I know stupid right lmao]

That said most of these people making these claims never owned an 63tu car or experienced the luxury. And that gap is BIG as it should be for the price.

M4 does things the m5 does but they're limited and honestly I think if I had a cp m6 I think I could do a lot of what I couldn't in my m5 non-cp. I'm beating on it and getting insane gas milage [doesn't really matter for someone who puts 20k miles on cars and dumps them like I do lol, but its still nice], brakes are just as good just a mini version of m5/m6's amazing braking abilities. So if you are coming up from a base 3/5/6 series or even e92 m3 [and not comparing exhaust/na], there are lots of things on this car that make it a monster and real improvement.

Either way I'm enjoying the m4 and a couple changes in the nav system [you can set hud, speedo etc. to euro units which is cool, even the ac you can do Celsius] and the handling are giving me lots of joy...

I miss my 63tu, but I miss my sticker the most...

Come run me on the road I told you about we'll get some videos of my m4 getting destroyed... Like I said I know how quick the m5 gets to 160+ on that road in mexico, and my m4 is NOT the same [granted I was running BMS since 3k lol]... The real comparison should be an m6 cp vs. an m4/m3 and even then I'd be shocked if it was closer than people think, but again we're back to price and the m4 is a bargain in my op... To get my m6 coupe exactly the same as my m4 it would be 130k vs. 78 lol thats not a small difference in MSRP [granted you can knock 15k+ off an m6 easy in negotiating], and the m5/m6 out preforms it for that price... except if you're trying to get nuts on turns or get the best possible lap times [which again I'm not sure many people could post a better time with a m3 vs. a gt3 lol]

I just see it as people trying to justify buying an m3/m4 and feeling better about their purchase lol

My M5 is supposed to go into production this week, I hope. The website says the production number is not in the system yet. I am still really enjoying my E92 M3, what a great car. I need 4 doors and almost went new M3. The comparisons between the M5 and new M3/4 are honestly a bit silly. Not as silly as all the comps between the M5 and 911s. For me, hopping in my car and making the 11 mi commute to work is great and I don't see how the M5 will improve that experience much from a driving standpoint. I have 1 mile on a twisty road where the handling of my car shines. I imagine the lighter weight of the new cars would improve this. What the M5 will improve is the luxury feel (I did go full leather) and some extra room for the family vs a new M3. I don't race like I used to, don't track cars so a 100 to 130mph pull is irrelevant to me. M5 owners knocking the M3/4 and vice versa is funny because they are all just fantastic cars. They meet different needs, have different characteristics, and can have a huge price differential.
That being said, I rarely see M5s but there are M3s everywhere so I expect to start seeing some new ones shortly. After my break in you can be sure I will try to put away the first one I see.

It's hilarious the ignorance and childishness over there lol . Doesn't matter what cars are "raced" using tach only videos they are useless for the reasons I mentioned. You can literally make them show almost whatever you want. I literally can't tolerate the intellectually challenged brigade anymore over on F80 post . Enjoy your'e M3/4 I mean its the best car ever and all other before it must pale in comparison. Speed, luxury, looks , handling, fun , sound, its as good as a 458 Italia Speciale. Perhaps one day I will wake up and realize this...

Guess I better not go over there because I'd be honest stock m5 vs m4 stock no comparison above 70... And that would go for any comparably tuned vs.

They ignore my posts when I've owned both and I'm sure I've spent more miles in both of them and will end up pushing it harder
