Overheard someone describe it as "gt3 is half the car of an m5 at 3/4th the weight, why race the two". Description not too far off imho. Someone was talking about the "stance" vis-a-vis the m5.. highly subjective but I like the m5 stance better than that of any rounded/egg-shelled legendary porsche 911. Both ferrari and lamborghini make sharper looking performance cars. Heck I would even trade my m5 for the older f430 scuderia. To each their own.

So you actually prefer the GT3 over the MAC ? I've been trying to justify buying a 991 GT3 and I don't find it better than my MAC. While it does many things real well and even better than MAC, I find the MAC so much better overall as a daily. Low end torque, suspension adjustment, great handling , interior comfort/ layout and fast as hell. Oh and all the looks too...

While the GT3 has a better drive feel. I'm not always driving in a canyon.

Mind you if I didn't have a 997 GT3 I wouldn't be so torn. I've driven the 991 GT3 6x and just can't pull the trigger to either replace my MAC or 997 with a 911 GT3. Real problems I know.

Hey Niko.

Depends. Overall, I gravitate towards the GT3 for DD. In fact, hands down it's not even close. I drive it everywhere. I don't ever drive canyons, etc. like Vic. I am in suburban East Cobb (Marietta) GA about 20 minutes NW of Atlanta. It does not do EVERYTHING better than the MAC for sure. I would never compare speed of course. The MAC is just blistering fast. And of course the looks of the MAC and the attention it gets-lol! Really nothing like it. I do feel so much more connected to the GT3 than I do the MAC. I don't know. I have a sort of affinity with the P cars. Something about them makes them feel just right. In addition, as you well know, the GT3 gives you that raw, mean feel. I honestly cannot get enough of this car. Few cars have ever made me feel this way and the GT3 tops the list. The MAC of course is utterly amazing as well. I just find the GT3 to be more fun to zip around town in. Now, if I'm going to shows or high speed runs or sunny day drives then the MAC is the easy choice. I like that they are so different. That's the beauty of owning them both. If I were you I would have ZERO issue getting rid of the 997 for the 991. Admittedly, I have never driven a 997 GT3 so I may be talking out of my butt here, but from limited seat time in other 997 variants, I can tell you that the 991 is a COMPLETELY different car. The chassis is amazing. rock solid and confidence inspiring. I never liked the 997 models. Seemed way too "simple" to me. Hard to explain. I just felt like the 991 developed Porsche into a more complete car and it moved me into the brand.

LOL-I know. These problems are terrible. Me and a couple of buddies were talking at Ferrari of Atlanta today and all three of us were alternating whining about how we needed to make some car decisions. One guy says "Man, this conversation is so wrong. People would smack us!" Collectively we own 2 991 GT3s, 2 650Ss, 1 Aventador Roadster, 1 Aventador Coupe, 1 Huracan and a few more-hahahahaha!

Niko I don't have much MP124C seat time but if it takes 6 times for you and you don't feel it... you don't feel it. We all have had amazing cars and know our own wants and needs. While you are, arguably, in the minority in not feeling the GT3 you probably have given your self all the opportunities you could to flip into it. Is your car Mac really faster than the GT3? You might have the subjectives in your favor on quartermile and high end speed (0-60 is close) but the rest is all "feel". Driving feel can be aligned with both canyons and the highway or even South Coast Highway Even you said it has the better feel... and it has better sound too at high rpms. I could have spent the same money and got a 13 Mac and no way would that happen.

This might not be the right car for you and that's ok... you have done the drives.

I don't know. Remember how long it took me to like Porsche....

And yes-lol! His 12C is WAY faster than the GT3. I know what he's going through.you get so used to that crazy power that it's hard to fall in love with something slower. Even though he's got the 997, I think it's going to be a hard switch for him. That's why I said I would trade the 997 for the 991. I did not tell him to change the 12C for the GT3. He would miss his 12C I think. I was commenting today that when I get in my 650S after driving my GT3 for a while I think to myself "this thing is really fast". Then I realize that I've only got the pedal halfway down! See, I go through these phases too. I'm driving the Porsche all the time and then I think that I could do without the McLaren. But then I get in my McLaren for three days in a row and don't think I ever want to get out of it either. They're both such different cars. One turbo and one normally aspirated. It's such different ends of the spectrum but yet so similarly fun to drive. To me the McLaren is by far the most fun ultra-performance car to drive. The Porsche is by far the most fun little race car to drive day to day.

GT3s trap 120s, so it would be a close one vs a stock F10 from a roll. Have a feeling the M5 would edge it out, may be wrong though. I'm game to run one!

Coldlist well said exactly how I feel, no way could I get rid of the MAC.
997 is such a special car in p world and damn thing is appreciating makes it hard to jump.

I do have a E93 M3 that I could dump to get 997 gt3...wife-mobile, she's been driving my M6 GC anyway.

I never knew faster was better? I need to sell the GT3 asap. Afterall its going to be worth more than a car double its price in half a year LOL. (I joke slightly). But I have gone from cars trapping 130's with my modded GTR and heavily modded 996 TT (Turbos, Exhaust, ECU, Etc) to cars that just drive great (the 996 actually was amazing for its time) like the R8, 458, C63 Black, and the GT3. And in reality they are not slow in real world situations.

My TT Benzes all run high 12X's and I have no doubt my 991 TT-S with exhaust and GIAC did too... but the GT3 is the slower and better car IMHO.

I see you've finally started paying attention to the flood of 458s on the market-hahahahahahahahaha!

Seriously, I have come to the same realization. Faster isn't necessarily better. These cars are so much faster than most on the road that you rarely push them to the limit. I enjoy them for the overall experience. GT3 wins by a nose at the moment.

LOL its your Mac's that suck at resale---- completely. 2014's that sold for msrp at 319k in Feb are going for more than 100k less in 6 months- that's haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. I joke- not really.

The 458 is softer than before but I didn't buy it for the resale. I bought it for the sound, looks, and normally aspirated brilliance. I would never pay a quarter mill plus for a car and expect it to maintain equity.

Ah...I missed that. A very rare bird the 2014 650S.-LOL

I know you didn't buy the 458 with any concern for resale because with these 228 for sale http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/l-Used-...8-Italia-d2064 it's gonna hurt a LOT of Ferrari owners.. You will likely do fine because it's not a high MSRP car. Soft like a down pillow that makes you sleep better at night?...I jest...not at all...well, sort of....maybe.

Oh well, glad we are in the same boat. Buying them for the fun and not as some sort of investment. It's the right thing to do.

From what I have been reading, there isn't any Speciales lying around to be had. A small handful are selling above MSRP.

The one car I want to add most to the family is the Aston Vanquish. Never mind it's not particularly fast or cutting edge. It's one sweet sounding and gorgeous car. I am planning to get it this year after I get some essential expenses out of the way.

Man, I hear you. I have always liked that car as well. THey ha done here about a year ago that was some sort of sky blue color. Sounds weird but it was wicked. Had that color in the patterned seat stitching. REALLY gorgeous car.

I am going to put a little extra money in the bank before I do anything else as well.

There was one at Ferrari of Denver- pre owned and sold for 50k over the 355 msrp.

The Speciale will hold its value for some time since there are no more allocations.

LOL cargurus---- that includes every car from 2010 to 2014 including spyders... not a perfect sampling. Im fine since mine is a 2014 coupe with lower miles and most of the 2014's are spyders at this site (only 13 coupes).
There are already 47 2015 650S cars on this site too!!! Damnnnnnnnnnn. There are two Speciales both well over msrp as expected.

I think Ill get a California, those cars are the softest of the F car lot... but I like them with the top up and can steal a newer model. I really have been looking into this car but it would need wheels and a Novitec drop.

The Speciale will hold its value for some time since there are no more allocations.
