Wow! First impressions are that the interior looks fantastic, no information yet about the curb weight, and it's going to come with a system that allows the driver to deactivate the AWD system to turn the car into a RWD car, something that I predict the next M5 may have if it goes AWD. I do think it looks far too similar in exterior design to the C63 AMG though.
Kind of surprised about the S horsepower rating, but it seems that even the non-S variant is still faster than the CTS-V. Probably because the CTS-V is RWD only though. I also predict that with the E63S only being 603hp that the next M5 will probably have similar horsepower, being that both the Mercedes and the next M5 will have AWD and won't need more than the CTS-V's 640hp. With all that said, this is the first Mercedes E63 AMG I would actually consider buying. What do you guys think? http://www.autoblog.com/2016/10/25/2...#slide-4246191 https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/auto/2...g-e63/preview/ http://www.leftlanenews.com/la-previ...-s--93157.html http://www.caranddriver.com/news/201...-and-info-news

I think it's very badass and I would actually consider this too. And that trick is pretty neat about how to activate rear wheel drive only. Can't wait to see reviews and comparisons with this against the new M5.

I really like it. I was looking at the cts-v but I will have to take a look at this when the time comes to replace the M5.

Outside of the advanced interior, I'm not jumping up and down just yet. The current AWD S iteration can perform close to these numbers and exceeds them with a tune and simple Benz mods.
I have had benzes with more hp and tq (tuned) and clearly I had issues with the MCT tranny which this car gets as well in a 9 speed variant. The delays in driver input and shift speeds are noticeable and many owners have voiced their thoughts on the Benz Boards. Of course I am spoiled having so many dual clutch cars and even my GTS which is a Benz is so much of a better car from a transmission standpoint. My hope (and a prayer) is that Benz will tune the TCU to properly transmit driver input to the transmission. Because after owning 4 MCT's; I don't know if I could deal with that transmission vs even the likes of the ZF8 I have in my Bentley (had in RS7 and F Type R) let alone against how brilliant the DCT is in my Pcars, Lambo, GTS, Ferraris, Bimmers etc.

Ummmm that's what the MCT is... a wet clutch planetary automatic that's been out for 6 plus years.

Indeed Dave, the MCT is a wet clutch tranny with 7 speeds and knowing Benz like I have in the past it appears they just added 2 more speeds. Yes the MCT can handle boat loads of tq but its not fluid by any means, lacks efficiency (power to the ground rating) and clearly needs tuning. I speak from ownership of a 2010 e63, 2012 E63 Wagon, 2012 CLS63, 2013 SL63, and still owned 2012 C63BS.

Looks great but just like all the AMG's I've had, something is always missing from the driving experience that leads me back to Porsches and BMW's.
