I have always thought that Audi USA are stupid not to offer the MRCs on the Plus version since in the ROW you can get the option. Interestingly, either CAR or EVO, (I can't remember which), have tested the non-Plus version to be just as quick as the Plus; at least until you reach silly speeds iirc.

Well done old friend. Keep the reviews coming as you get a few more miles on her. BTW, the VF tune: picked up by Audi during service?

Bish
No, this update doesnt fall under the TD1 bullshit that Audi pulls fortunately.

Its not as fast but my Turbo S is a stage 2 car (catless and tune) and its expected to beat this car. But the fun in driving the car and the sound easily makes up for the loss in a few mph in the traps and tenths in zero to 60. The Audi also feels more luxurious inside; its the sexier car dare I use that word

That's a head turner, even in Southern California. The Porsche is a sexy car also, but maybe over the decades we're just a little too used to the shape of it.

I used H&R because it was only .8 inch drop square AND I have the mag ride on the non plus... the ride change with the drop is discernible at best. I could have gone KW but I would have taken the same height and never touched it to only spend 1k more on set of springs. I go with KW usually when I want to exceed what fixed springs have or have done research and heard or test driven cars that are too bouncy with fixed height springs. This was not the case with the R8.

Indeed, and while the Porsche is the performer (if I can say that over a great R8 V10 car) its not getting much love right now . I just did the exhaust on the R8 too and its a game changer no doubt. The sounds, the roar, the screams and pops/burbles just make this the car I choose to drive as much as possible. 100% Id rather be a little slower and hear that V10 sound (now amplified).

Ill always always always be a Porsche fan- amazing cars and Ive had a great list of them over the years and will keep adding to that list though.

That color is sort of like the Amazonite Silver on my M5, it looked different according to the lighting. This is a much better look than your original picture. I like it more in this picture, the gray softens the lines a bit.

About dated looks. People keep saying the Maserati GT is an old design (2008) but I was just watching Good Guys Wear Black and the Porsche 911s that Booker drives in that movie look a lot like the ones today. Sure they are different but they are obviously a 911 just 35+ years older.

Did the H&R mess with the mag ride?

Not at all, the mag ride is dampener in nature; H&R only replaced the OEM springs.

very very very close, but Ive left it in sport mode the whole time vs comfort or dynamic. Its probably a little more stiff than OEM. But this is for a 2017 car.. I dont know how the H&R set up is for your Gen 1 car.

My good friend for 17 years, Peter at (wheel)experts.com hooked me up with these to try out. Not exactly your standard looking wheel but I think they work well with the lines of the car. Stay tuned as I swap them out every few months

The colour of the replacement wheels fit the car better than the silver OEMs IMO.

Missed this the first time round; gorgeous - I'm a big fan of Suzuka Grey.

Someone had brought a Suzuka Grey R8 with an exceptional loud aftermarket exhaust to the Porsche dealer as few months ago - it is really hard to see the grey under certain lighting conditions. I previously tried to 'PTS' Suzuka Grey and failed; lol.

The virtual cockpit looks impressive; what is it like to live with?

Thanks Mate. Yes the Suzuka is amazing and I love it even further under sunset conditions when the grey really comes out and the car darkens up. But to the layman in bright sunlight- the car is "just" white.

As for the virtual cockpit; its relatively functional with the center rpm gauge and large mph readout but its not ground breaking to me. I wish the car had an HUD but this is probably the next best thing. Its very easy on the eyes and serves its purpose. Outside of it being very visually pleasing, I have not found any key improvement processes in the actual setup. I just have it split 3 ways with the music on the left, RPM and ODO in the center, and the ever necessary tpms readout to the right.

Gorgeous as usual Vic! Love the new rims. I got into my Z4 for $25k, getting out a year later at $25k; I don't think I can wait for a cheaper R8. Found a 2017 V10+ for $162. Been trying to get it under $150, but just not happening anywhere...

So is the R8 your new daily out of the stable?

Its a non plus; yes I went this way for a few reasons. I have already tuned it to 60 more whp which is about 75 bhp and the car already is rated above the 540 bhp from the factory; so right there the gap is covered and passed. I also get the magnetic shocks vs the fixed ones in the Plus. That's not a huge deal but the MagRide is very very comfortable and flat. While I like the wing and the CCB's- they are not necessary and the factory pricing I get made it a huge swing. So that's it, I have this car now and its nice to be in a NA V10 car that I will use more frequently. Obviously there are others out there: Turbo S, 570S, and a few more but I already have a Turbo S modded and the McLaren still hasn't got to me but I'm sure it will

Anyways this car is in Suzuka Gray which is hard to discern in the pics but at night it really darkens up. Its a nice change to my whites that I have. The steering and suspension are awesome along with the grip and chassis feel. I love the interior and the MMI system isn't all too bad with the giant TFT screen. Its just a great overall car with speed, awd, handling, v10 sound, and a good cockpit. The DSG is so smooth and the car is just flat out easy to drive. Its a very confident inspiring car in the right moments and 160+ mph comes easy (especially with the tune). It might feel just a slight bit faster down low than the Huracan but the H car is lighter and can pull better up top but its a driver's race. I might still mod it via lowering, exhaust (more V10 song is never bad), but for now its stock which might concern me LOL.

Here is the top gear review of the V10, V10 Plus, and the spyder where they had similar performance results:

https://www.topgear.com/car-news/sup...10-vs-spyder#1

Congrats Vic55
I had this car for 24 hours rental in Vegas and I still can't get over it bro!
Enjoy in great health

New wheels look fantastic!! The dark tone really complements the light upper of the car.. great choice ?

Have you gotten used to the split blade on the side? I keep getting drawn to it.

Beautiful - In my opinion, the black wheels contribute to a more understated level of class that really brings out the features of the car. Plus, the red calipers seem to pop and stand out a bit more.

Not sure if I would fit in that car at 6'4" and 215 pounds!

ps Excellent photography and the view in the last picture doesn't look bad either (especially compared to Omaha)!

Thanks Karney, I think your deal at 162 is smoking especially if new as that would be circa 40k off. No, the R8 is more of a 2 day a week car- the C63S and my RS7 Performance are the daily's.

Thanks. For me, the split blade is what I like over the prior design (which I owned) along with some the body shaped with more edge vs Gen 1's rounder sides.

Thanks Dave... believe it or not, the pics are via my Samsung Note 5

At 6'4" I think you would be at the threshold. Maybe take a tester?
