ps Excellent photography and the view in the last picture doesn't look bad either (especially compared to Omaha)!

Yeah, Omaha sucks for scenic drives, haha. Did you swing by Ice Cream Cruise? Quite a few of the M4s and M5s were out there. Audi of Omaha has 3 2017 R8s for sale. Go out and test drive one. I did and I think it's the right move; especially since I daily any car I have and the M5 did not like Nebraska winters...

[QUOTE=Vic55;22041456]Thanks Karney, I think your deal at 162 is smoking especially if new as that would be circa 40k off. No, the R8 is more of a 2 day a week car- the C63S and my RS7 Performance are the daily's.

It has 1,800 miles on the car, so yeah I think it's 37K off MSRP; I think it's a toss up between a 2018 E63S and the R8. Waiting on the dealership to get the E63S here soon. Different cars, but I daily whatever car I have in the garage. Congrats on the toys! What's next? 570s? 720s? I remember you had a Huracan; perhaps the Perfomante?

I'm pretty much set right now with 3 new cars as I just got the RS7 Performance and tuned it past 700 hp. The E63S has piqued my interest but Ill wait for the early demand to subside plus the EPA is holding up all the cars right now (been sitting at the port for over 3 months I hear). But if the R8 went away I would consider the 570 GT but not the Perfomante. The Lambo is awesome and it out performs my 2015 Huracan as well but I fear I would just admire it vs drive it everywhere like I can and do at times with the R8. I had my last Huracan for a year and everywhere I went it was an event or look at me car. It was an "occasion" car to say the least and while the R8 gathers looks, it still can just do those basic things very easily yet has just enough exotic appeal.

No idea what's up with the E63 but my dealer has 3 at the post too. I think you're spot on with the EPA halt. That's the difference imho between an R8 and a Hurcan. Nearly the same car but the Lambo screams for attention. My budget is only $175k right now but realistically I need at least $50 of that for a DD suv leaving $125 for a fun car. AMG GT (I know you either had it or still own one). A client of mine out in Vegas is letting me test drive all his toys the weekend of the Mayweather/McGregor fight. Going to be interesting to see what's best in the sub-$200k range. He has a 911 GT3, 570s, Huracan, 458 Spider(Italia is in my budget), and a few others...

Just waiting on the next M5 to finally come out. M5 is life, M5 is bae. <3

@vic55 if you could only have one: 911 Turbo S or 2017 R8?

I'm starting to think of next move on my car. I'm leaning towards just upgrading to a 991.2 TTS.

I'm not getting a good feeling about Park Place giving me an allocation on the GT3. They may have taken too many deposits.

Wait until the hype is over you will be fine. Not sure if you heard Porsche extended the warranty on the .1 GT3 10 years 100k miles if the engine failes. Good move to stop the panic on the .1 GT3's.

10 years 120K miles and that only covers the engine replacement if the issue is specifically the finger follower issue. Still excellent of Porsche though.

Ill take the normally aspirated car... the .2 is the better performer in most tests but that doesnt make it the car IMO. There is nothing like the song and dance of the v10 screaming and the chassis planted on those magnetorheological dampers. Ive had 5 Porsche Turbos so Ill definitely be back with another but in the current environment Id rather have my R8.

Exactly .......Porsche can't afford a bad reputation on GT cars.

What pricing are you seeing on .2? I'm still up in air on .2 vs R8

I think the R8 will price better. The majority of the 991.2 TT's are well over 200k (because of the options) while you can get a non plus in the 170's or even high 160's. A plus will go for 185 ish or just a bit more.

Have you driven either?

I did a test drive of the 2017 R8 V10+ today. I really liked it a lot.

Pluses:
- Steering is fantastic. Feels more precise, responsive and communicative than in the Porsche.
- Dynamic mode is really good. The transmission does exactly what you want and there is very little lag compared with the 911.1 TTS.
- Handling felt very balanced. I didn't think it took corners faster than my 991, but because the car is so balanced and the steering so precise and communicative, I felt more confident extracting the performance than I do with my 991.1
- The soundtrack is fantastic. The V10 sounds very good at full throttle.
- The interior is somewhat nicer than the 991

Negatives:
- Seating position was challenging. It didn't have enough legroom for me. The only comfortable position I could find was with the seat angled up so the back is as low as possible, and the front is high. But it still felt tight, and in this position my eyes were about the same height as the top of the side windows, so the vantage point wasn't ideal. I do wonder if I am too tall for this car.
- I think the single screen setup doesn't really work too well. Would prefer two screens or a screen and a HUD.
- While the interior is nicer than the Porsche, I was slightly disappointed. I think it photographs very well, but in is not as good as it looks. The Mercedes designo interiors on the AMG GTC is much nicer. However the Mercedes isn't a car I would consider beach it lacks AWD.

Haven't driven the 991.2 TTS. My guess is the Audi is the better car, but not sure I can live with the cramped seating position.

Not much I can add here... I think you summed it up and your frame can only endure certain situations for so long so its probably not the car for you. Whats interesting is that I know several taller drivers who really enjoy it. (6'2" and above).

I might have mentioned it in another thread but the virtual cockpit while nice to look it isnt amazing by any standards. I guess the incredible engine noise keeps my mind on other things

Edit: you drove the plus which has the non magnetorheological dampers. If you thought the Plus was balanced, try the non plus from a chassis, turning feel, coupled with less than perfect roads; its excellent. I dont understand why Audi pulled the mag ride from NA cars but left it in Europe.

It's possible I just need to play with the seat positions more. I just realized that I didn't try making the backrest more vertical to see if that would allow me to slide it back further. That was what I did with the F-Type.

Not sure if you saw but i edited my last post to mention the mag ride which you didnt have on your test drive. The mag ride makes the car even better IMHO.

That's interesting. I remember you mentioning this before. I have no idea why they didn't include it on the V10+. The suspension was masterful. Ride Quality was slightly better than my 911. The Magnetoheological ones must be even better.

Herb Chambers has a really stunning CPO V10 with the dynamic steering option which is a must have IMO.
