I didn't read the whole article but if I'm reading the this chart right, it looks like the m5 would come from behind.

2009 article. If 2012 Pcar has HP bump, then maybe it's as fast now.
Yes that would be close but there is still a turbo S which adds another 30 hp and the performance package as well.

As far as exterior look, I think that is just to each own, Panamera is the car you really need to see it in person to appreciate the design. Actually I think it's not bad at all, after I saw the real Turbo version in front of me with the OEM 20 inch wheel(anything smaller than 20 makes the car ugly).

If money is not a problem I will pick Panamera Turbo at anyday, the interior material quality and design make its competition look like a cheap Honda Accord, includes the M5

Don't get me wrong, I still like the new F10 M5, especially for the price point!

And as others said its stupid ugly.

actually contrary to what i said prior, im not a Porsche fan by far mainly because the cars are ass ugly but this one does look much better then traditional Porsches. that said the M5 still looks better in my opinion but as you said to each their own.

This is not surprising. I think that a Panamera Turbo is a more equal contender in terms of power, but they were obviously after price here where the Panamera S is more in line. Damn that M5 is quick though!

Yeah the GTR will slaughter them all, however that is not the comparison to be considered here. The GTR does 0-60 in like 3.5 sec...

I only decided to bring that up being just this video surprised me BIG time. Of course i know on the track the E63 would have NO whatsoever chance but in a drag race I was almost sure the E would take the M.

But yes, I guess I am just curious to see how much slower the M5 would be

ive never taken much from drag races, im more curious about what happens when they enter the first turn after a sprint like that. thats more interesting. but good win for the M5. Nordschleife time would be nice.

I think the turbo S which would be comparable is almost $100k more than the M5... Base turbo S is $173k and if you've ever looked at or owned a new Porsche, their options are outrageous... No wonder the turbo S is not included... For $100k more IT would have got slaughtered...

Definitely my next ///M purchase right here. I wouldn't mind the next M3 IF the F30 already didn't look like a crap baby version of the F10. I mean FI can't be beat since that's where BMW is moving to, maybe the generation after this will have some NA in the ///M models.

If you look at the laptime list, you will find they did test a Panamera Turbo in another review and it was slower than the M5 in both lap time and peak speed.

The Panamera Turbo/Turbo S, or GTR will undoubtedly jump ahead of the M5 in the first hundred feet or so. But once rolling, the M5 will stay even or pull ahead. I'm not sure what the big deal is with a car that launches like a cat from a stop. Great for a dragstrip, but you'll never use it on the street.

If you're timing your launch on a stoplight turning green, you should have your license revoked. Most serious/fatal car accidents are due to people 'running' the yellow light and they end up speeding through the intersection after the light turns red and hitting somebody that was naive enough to assume that since the light is green, it's ok to go.

I had a chance to sit in a Panamera when I was over in Germany and I don't see what the big deal is. Sure the layout is more special than the other cars (someone mentioned airplane cockpit), but in terms of material quality, it's not even close to making the M5 a Civic interior. And the recent MB's have a solid feel too.

In terms of the exterior, I saw a white one in the museum, and many black Turbos around Munich, and personally, I still can't like it. It's a very love it or hate it kind of car.
