Here's the video, because it wasn't working for me on EVO's site:
F10 BMW M5 vs Porsche Panamera S vs Mercedes E63 AMG vs Jaguar XFR drag

idk how accurate that is.. it said the E63 is 0-60 in 4.9. That's definitely not right, especially with the performance package. Not taking anything away from the M5 but i think the E63 would be a lot closer or even beat..

Impressive result for the M5 against the E63...I would have thought a drag race to be the E63's forte over the M5.

Porsche plays in another league however. They make the S and non-S cars for aspirational buyers, but if you really want to own a Porsche with class leading performance, you have to step up to the bigs leagues with the Turbo models. (that is not to say that 'regular' Porsches are not great...they are great...but there are great cars from BMW and MB etc that can top these cars.) For those people lucky enough that the extra $100K does not matter, they enjoy a very exclusive, very fast car, in the turbo model. To me, this is analogous to the decision to buy an STI versus a 335. The performance of the two cars on the street is really comparable. But the quality and feel of the 335 is incomparable to the STI. But in the market I live in, the 335 comes in at $40 000USD more than an STI. So which car is better? Depends on what league you play in.

At any rate, all the angst and anxiety of the BMW M fan-base can be set aside. M does not what they are doing...NA or forced induction. Now, how about some M brakes that last on a track?

Agree with this and WolfBimmer's post too. Thus, Porsche should not have been included at all. If price is no object, compare based on HP/torque numbers. If performance isn't a priority, compare at a common price point.

I understand the argument on the price range. But not having the Porsche Turbo model is still not a fair comparison. I would like to see how the M5 would fair against the Turbo model.

That's why I bought the GT-R! (I still loved my E90 M3 but got tired of getting smoked by other cars). The 2012 GT-R has been clocked at 2.85 seconds. I've been able to do 2.7 seconds in my 2012 with a tune. Really puts a grin on your face. I do think the M5 would make a better daily driver though. The ride in the GT-R is a bit rough.

Why can't the GT-R be 80k again? they are going for as much as 110k over here!

yeah but its ugly.
And also that's not true. The m5 would murder turbo s too

Nice.
I'm a little bit biased but I do think the M5 is also the best looking.

Thanks for posting, great result!

Where is page 105 of the article? The part before the track test, continuing the ///M5 part of the review...

Congratulations to the M5 for placing first, but let's face it... The Panamera is clearly the superior car... at being UGLY!

I agree. How is that possible with that much power and torque on tap? I am sure that once these cars get into actual enthusiasts hands and they are learned to be driven we will see different results. Not trying to take anything away from the M5 as it is no doubt a beast and I am a BMW driver Great article OP and thanks for sharing.
