I just like the fact that this is a First in the world of cars. Mercedes AMG built this car from the ground up as a 4-door sports car. There is no way the comp package will drop 13 seconds off the regular cars lap time... that new amg is a serious machine. 7:25 is faster than a lot of purpose built race cars

I noticed he was in Auto mode the whole time as I did not see him touch the paddle shifters once throughout the entire lap! Kudos to MB on the trans programming

Not true. Not from the ground up. They started with an E63S Wagon and upgraded it. I've seen the car in person and the similarities are striking. If they built it from the ground up it would be a lot lighter.

That said it is an impressive car. I do like it. I'd rather buy a Panamera Turbo S for this kind of money though.

Yeah, the GT 4 door is still based on MB's MRA platform.

It is the same as F10 M5 and F06 M6.

I think this is a shame, I was hoping for a stretched AMG GT with a rear 7 speed DCT and about 500lbs less weight.

Hmmm, well I haven't seen any official correspondence on that but I'll take your word.

Either way, a 4,500lbs 4 seat car that puts down a 7:25s at the Ring is baffling.

I'm still hoping the rumors about an M5 CS are true. Don't know if that'll beats 7:25s though.

But the fact is that the GT63S comes with 630hp from the factory, just a matter of time before we see a 4-seat sports sedan that puts out 700hp from the factory. The new RS7 will probably come close to that.
