Block-off plate revisited
I know this has been covered ad nauseam, however...
Took my M5 in for service (fourth oil level low light in 3K miles) and had the rear clunk sound addresses (provided service bulletin number, parts en route from Germany). Anyway, asked them to check the block-off plate and sure enough, there is not one on my M5. My SA and shop foreman tell me there was never supposed to be a block-off plate and they won't install one. Can anyone provide a definitive answer for me? I'm shocked at the level of pushback I'm receiving and was given to understand the plate should be there. Thanks. |

Thanks for the response. My SA checked and there is nothing there (no plate, no snorkel)...just a hole. And he says he's not going to do anything about it. I'll give him the information you shared, but I'm baffled by the standoffish-ness here. Why not install the plates if they are on subsequent builds?
I'm just waiting for them to say, "sure, that'll be $500+..." |

Which dealership is it? I usually hit BMW of Fairfax and they usually will tell you why they can't/won't do it as opposed to just "no".

I'm sure they'll bend over backwards when they hear this when according to them there isnt' anything to be fixed or added.

Seriously, how hard is it to ensure the hood is closed before returning my car to me? Not to mention my M5 was covered in bird poop; first time my car was returned to me from a service appointment far filthier than when I dropped it off. |

Funny thing is that I bought my M5 from BMW of Sterling, but never use their service dept. I would never ever buy any car from BMW of Fairfax, but their service department is pretty good.
