Correct Oil for service....

Hi M5 owners......
I'm recently new to the forum and ownership of this fantastic motor!! Am looking to do an oil change on my recent 2015 F10 M5 purchase and want to ensure I put the correct oil in the car, have done some research and see a few oils being used. Is this oil pictured the one to go for???? Thanks in advance

That can be used it's 0W30. Engine holds 9.5 litres with oil filter.

I've seen a few oils being used.... 0w30w 5w30w also, but wondered if the 0w30w pictured was better say than a 0w30w Castrol Edge or similar?? Thanks in advance.

Myself use Edge 0W30 and I'm happy with it and don't think any one is better than the other. The BMW labelled oil is made by Shell.
I purchase the Castrol from Costco and supply 3 containers to BMW when its time for oil change, it comes in 4 litre containers, so I have over 2 litres left for top ups if needed.
The BMW oil only comes in 1 litre cans and works out dearer.

Thanks for that info 👍 wondered if others use castrol edge.... and if there's any major difference between the 2 oils 🤷*♂️ have read that oils come from same containers at refineries... but the bmw shell oils are more expensive as you say, I will carry on looking and buy one of these oils at the best price possible! 😜 thanks for the help onlyone 👏

Keep your eye on eurocarparts website. When they have discount codes on you can sometimes get 50% off oils. This is when I stock up on Castrol for my next service, comes in at £32 for 4 litres, never comes cheaper than this.

I wouldn't use for M, part of spec I saw for this is 'ACEA light duty C2',ok for run-of-the mill cars.

It was an ebay fixed price purchase, so no filter involved I'm afraid 😔checked his other listings with loads of bmw/mini parts..... but zero F10 M5 oil filters!

Usually take car to dealer with the oil and they supply the filter (for the Bm service stamp in book).
Alternatively just get a genuine one from e-bay.
