"Trumpet" sound with Downpipes

Does anyone else get that funky trumpeting sound after installing catless downpipes? Sounds kinda like some of the riced out hondas at certain throttle and rpms.

I'll try to get video of it. Trumpeting may not be the best way to describe it, but under certain conditions it makes an exhaust note that just doesn't appeal to me. Seems like it is related to the operation of either the wastegates or the valves in the mufflers.

Not my video, but sounds similar to this, but a little more muffled.

That doesn't sound right at all. I'd check to see if the downpipes were installed right

What's crazy is mine sounds nearly identical free revving or during WOT pulls, but some part throttle pulls result in the trumpet sound.

I installed them and other than one of the brackets not lining up properly, they seemed to be well sealed and seated. I will probably look it over again on Sunday to see if I can find anything.

Dug back into it today. I couldn't find any obvious problems, so I gutted the stock cats and put them back on. Obviously less aggressive sound now, but so much better without the trumpet.

I'll agree with you to an extent that you get what you pay for, but what is it about a cheap downpipe that makes it sound shitty compared to an expensive downpipe? Stainless pipe is stainless pipe. There isn't really anything there to make it sound different.

I truly believe there is something else going on to make my car sound that way. I can still recreate the sound with the gutted cats, it's just way less noticeable.

That sound is either something making contact with the pipe and vibrating or the pipe is not seated well.
