It's Sunday. I don't know many shops that would be open today. Give them a day or two to respond.

they have given up!!!!

From what I have hear our ECU everytime U turn on the car It give a new loocking code so it is almost imposible to break in. It just keep re-loocking it self..!!! I now that AMS has give up trying so they are just going to wait till someone break in an is able to start tuning, before they put anymore effort in to it...
U know BMW is being trying to make a untunable car for a long time and it seems they have finally done it.. but if this is true then its upto us the consumer letting them know if we like this kind of shit or not..

Its more who makes the ECU/BME (bosch or siemen) that locked it down so other companies don't reverse engineer their product than BMW.

Dinan has unlocked the DME. Software is in final stage of development and has been CONFIRMED release in a few months.

Where are you getting that number from?
A Dinan tune for the X5 or X6 M is normally $3500.

Just guessing. X5m tune increases the stock boost by 3psi.
We are getting increased stock boost by 3psi via BMS for $500.

As much as I want a tune I still won't pay thousands for it. But that's just me. I'm hard headed. Lol

Thanks will download.

I will pony up if it is a healthy gain and a good warranty.

Yeah but its a big difference between writing new timing and fueling tables for the boost and tricking the car into running more boost. The former will always be safer and more consistent if done well. For instance to run 3psi with the BMS you have to run race gas bc thats beyond the ECU's amity to adapt fueling and retard timing. It also allows you to do something the BMS can never do in its current state , add power up top more than in the midrange (assuming the turbos are not maxed out) I don't want any more low end torque, i can't use what i'm making now lol. And if they are the only ones to crack it after working countless hours on multiple development cars that they purchased , charging 2500 -3500 is totally understandable initially. Terry had 0 development costs for he BMS on the M5/M6. Dinan has put several hundred thousand into by now. Its not like they would be selling a development file for 2500 like everyone else has been .
My two cents
George

I have also heard from the Dinan rep nearby that the ECU tune is in it's final stages and should be out soon.

My concern is that Dinan also mentioned something about engine life being shortened when boost is altered. Perhaps they are testing this?

a bit.. but that was a great radio show. I really enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing. Looks like he has some good HP gains and has cracked the ECU. He did not mention the speed limiter so we will have to see if he will unlock it for his tune or not.

very good listen.

Car is not letting us program the ECU without the handles in place.
