There are 2000+ hp GTRs now. These cars will smoke you, your friend, and put the hurt on that fantasy land you live in.

The fastest GTR runs 6s in the 1/4, the fastest M5 runs 9s in the 1/4. The GTR is by far the better performance car in EVERY performance category.

The M5 is a great sports sedan but it is severely handicapped by its lack of traction, there are better options from Audi and Mercedes right now with their advanced Awd systems.

M5 competes against e63, cls63, and rs7 etc.... not The GTR.

To be fair though the M5 is a sedan capable of competing with SOME GTRs. Thats where you get these crosses in mindsets its that the M5 is sooo good at what it does engine and trans wise, you forget they are two very different animals.

Kinda like GTR owners get the notions of grander that they're superior to American drag cars, when the GTR is not good heads up/ bracket environment in the track it can run damn good times but at true 1/4 events even the fastest ones have reallllll trouble with these American funny/drag cars that are now in low 6s.

The m5 is an amazing sedan and the GTR is a race coupe with a great trans and engine. The GTR will always be a step ahead of even the fastest M5s because even if you get an m5 with 900,1000,1500,1700 they'll always be groups of gtrs making more than that.


That said I'm really impressed and would love to see the M5 pushed to the point that more and more R&D continues to flood the platform, but at some point kinda like the N54 guys who still can't get that platform to hook up enough from a dig, you've gotta admit you've got a really great reliable roll platform/ fun fast daily.
