I’m happy with my Vantrue N2. I bought for two of my cars, and I like that it can easily be transferred to another car if needed. I strongly believe a dash cam is quickly becoming a must have item to cover yourself in an accident.

Thanks, absolutely agree. Now did you run the wire to a switched source or plug it in everytime? Im looking for a hard wire option so it comes on and turns off with the key. Thanks

most of the decent dashcams are good and robust. Avoid one that mounts directly to your windshield; rearview mirror mounted cams, you can cover with the sunscreen at least.

Its the memory cards that you have to worry about if exposed to too much heat over time; just check your recorded videos every once in a while to see when the microsd cards crap out.

We have dash cams in every one of our cars.

Edit: we use the kdlinks r100 dashcams

Had a blackvue 650s dual and it is very good. If parking mode is a priority I also got the cellink battery b. There’s a new 4K model out now 950s

I live and die by my Waylens Horizon. Hardwired to a fuse in the glove box.

I love the functions of the Waylens but I hate their mount. The suction cup isn't nearly as strong as it needs to be for such a heavy cam.

Hardwired the cellink battery B to the fuse panel in the trunk and there’s space to store the battery there as well.

I have a BlackVue DR500GW, which is a pretty old model now, but it has worked flawlessly for more than 3 years now. My camera is hardwired to a fuse in the glovebox and is situated just underneath the KAFAS camera. It turns off automatically after you shut off the car and enters parking mode (only comes online when it detects motion). I haven't gotten any warnings for battery drainage for the years I've been using it. It only records 1080p, but as others have mentioned, there are newer models out there.

The wifi transfer of videos is rather slow, which is annoying. I'm guessing it hasn't gotten any better with newer models, but others can chime in on that. Back when I was researching dash cams BlackVue were one of the top choices.

I keep one of these otg USB readers in each car so I can quickly pull the micro SD card and check/transfer the videos on my android phone.

Was looking for some dash camera info and ran across this old thread. After lots of searching and research I ended up with the Viofo A139. Here is my review on amazon. I have had it for a month or two and am very pleased with it.
