They stole my DMEs?
I took my F10 M5 to a shop due to hi rpm misfire. Thy told me the DMEs were bad and needed to be replaced. They bought a pair from ebay and it didn't fix it. I didn't believe them and took the car to another shop who determined the regulator in 1 hi pressure pump was bad. Now I notice the mileage is wrong, less than actual. I talked to the place I bought the car from and he told me that carfax will catch that if I ever try to sell the car. Is the mileage in the DMEs? The DMEs in it now have sharpie writing all over them, mine didn't. I assumed they did it to keep from mixing them up.

Did you ask them to put your old ones back on?
A shop that’s inexperienced enough to diagnose a bad DME instead of a fuel pump probably thought you’d be good with the second hand ones. More than likely yours are up for sale, so I’d ask for yours asap. And the dealership is right, wherever you go with the car that reports to carfax, will record your mileage and cause an inconsistency on the report. |
