Flappy Paddle Question
In anticipation of getting an M5, (Jan 2nd ) I have been reading up on the Manual. I have seen where other cars that use the 7 Spped DCT reference that the car goes into Neutral when pulling on both paddles at the same time. Does the M do this as well?

The right question is why doesn't it. Also why does it have some BS creep mode.
But beside that it's a great car.

There's other threads on this, p cars do it so you rev engine without manually going to neutral, think merc may do too, but not our beasts unfortunately.

Have to say - I like creep mode - I use it for parking situations.

I like creep mode too. You just have to be cognizant that when you use creep mode, you must use the brake if you want to stop. The first time I used it in my garage, I almost ran into the wall. Lol!

i apologize for the ignorance but what creep mode??
felt like a manual car to me on neutral if I let off the brake on a complete stop.. meaning it will fall back on a incline or roll forward on a slight decline. |

Brakes are still applied for 2 seconds to prevent rollback.
But creep mode is when from Neutral you tap the accelerator and the car engages 1st gear and then will essentially go into cruise control at 6-10km/h simulating creeping in an automatic.

I have not tried it extensively enough, but in theory should remain on if you accelerate to a higher speed then lift off accelerator pedal and slow down to minimum speed with engine braking only or don't brake to a stop. Obviously use with care! I was not aware this also works from N (I've never tried that)? Last edited by Dionysus; 12-06-2013 at 03:16 PM.. |

Sorry not from N, only from Drive. What I meant to say that was in Drive, with the brake off the car's clutch is disengaged (thus Neutral) and that's why it can roll back/forward after 2 seconds. But tapping the gas then puts it into creep mode.

Oh right, understood; will not be trying it from N then. I've hardly tried any of the various driving modes yet and there seems to be a few not detailed in the manual - shouldn't be getting bored of this car any time soon hopefully!
