MOG is dead. What next?

I've really enjoyed using MOG our the past year and a half. The 320kbps audio quality perfectly compliments the B&O sound system.

Unfortunately Beats Audio closed down MOG this evening. The replacement Beats Audio has no BMW Apps support.

The only other service with comparable selection and sound quality is Spotify and it seems they don't support BMW Apps either.

I have been trying Rhapsody today as a replacement. The BMW Apps integration is quite good. The challenge with Rhapsody is that it has a lower bit rate - either 192 or 256kbps. It's not terrible, but I notice the difference and it bugs me a little.

Any other ideas? What are you guys doing?

I know.. very disappointing.

There is a support thread on Beats website for BMW Apps integration. Not sure how much traction it's gaining.

Hopefully they have something in the works or will soon. But not holding my breath on that one.

Try AUPEO! which does have BMW App support. Can download it onto your iPhone from iTunes.

Totally agree. Beats sucks. I might just cancel it and wait for something better. Aupeo! is basically pandora. So not much help.

Beats was just bought by Apple. Don't hold your breath for any BMW App support.

I was a big MOG fan too :-(

Not up to par. No downloads, and limited to 192kbps at best. at least Rhapsody is offering 256kbps.

You need downloads to support 320kbps because you cell connection won't keep up, not to mention the high cost of wireless data.

You don't even need to cancel it.

That's the stupidity of these Beats people - they basically fired all of MOGs paying subscribers.

I actually like beats. I Bluetooth it to the radio and it works fine. Only issue is it won't update the song choice on the screen.

With Apple, Beats will dominate or takeover Spotify. I use Bluetooth to stream my Beats library. I wonder if it's still 320kbps?

Bluetooth in principle is capable of streaming at that bitrate, but the compression codec used in our cars does reduce the quality. I can tell a night and day difference between MOG over bluetooth and MOG over USB when it comes to the details.

Apparently the barriers to entry in the US music market is very high cost.. which is the reason behind no US availability. Looks like Deezer will be partnering with Microsoft to help alleviate that.

Until Deezer enters the US market, I think Rhapsody is a decent replacement for MOG.

Somebody outside the US, check out Deezer and let us know how it is.

I am going to connect to a VPN server I have in Germany and see if I can get Deezer to work that way.. and if so, what kind of music I will have access to.

Ok, so that worked perfectly.

- vyprvpn.com
sign up and download iOS app
install VPN profile to iOS
connect to out of country server

- deezer.com
sign up for premium plus account
download iOS app
plug phone into M5
iDrive will show Deezer

Note: the VPN profile uses a auto reconnect feature (through the profile). To disconnect from the VPN use the vyprvpn app or in settings click info next to the vpn and toggle the switch off. If you don't toggle the switch off and try to disconnect through the settings app, it will constantly auto reconnect.

My wife hooked up Spotify via BT on the way up to CT this weekend since my Sirius just ran out. I was very surprised and happy with how well it worked as well as the music selection.

Ive used Pandora sparingly in the past, but never got into it bc i found they repeated songs a lot. Also, Im not an audiophile, but to my layman ears, I felt like the Spotify audio sounded great.
