My F10 M5 Engine sound after AMS Downpipes install

Hi,

I just install AMS catless Downpipes for my F10 M5 and I notice that there are some clicking sound like aluminum plate not tight enough from downpipe area while decelerating. Is that normal or my engine has some issue?

Just installed a set of these myself and definitely doesn't sound right. Almost sounds like bad wastegate rattle. I doubt it's engine related -- more than likely a loose heat shield, a downpipe that isn't seated fully with the v-band, or the wastegate flapper hitting the v-band bolts.

Hard to check what's going on unless you remove the heat shield, which requires removing the primary o2 sensors.

Did you (or your garage) change the gasket donut rings?

You should get your answer on the second page. It maybe the donut rings like the previous poster pointed out. That should be your start; there is a reason to them being supplied with DPs as you read within the thread posted above. Once compressed its advisable that they are not reused.

Wastegate rattle is normal on those cars once you go catless as it's no longer muffled as it was before. You'll get used to it 😀. Get a louder exhaust.

^^ Project Gamma imports the cheapest Chinese made downpipes and welds their badge on them. Fitment issues are extremely common - and because they get them from different sources - they can be highly variable in quality.

Fabworx sells their perfect fitment USA built catless DP’s for $795 on ebay. That’s a better option near that price point

I said I know you rebadge cheap Chinese downpipes for the F10 M5.

That’s about all I need to know about your “company” to post what I posted.

I had the same issue with my ams catted down pipes making weird noises. I had a rattle on deceleration. I Tighten up everything and ordered all new exhaust clamps but still the same rattling noise. When removing them I found a crack at one of the welds.[IMG][/IMG]

I know this is old so hopefully youve resolved this?

If not, i suggest chexking the vacuum line on the back of bank 1. If it was torn or popped off you wouldnt have enough vacuum to the wastegates and they would rattle. You would see a huge decrease in boost too. Just throwing it out there.

My just personal experience... I had the exact same rattle with the AMS downpipes. Switched to a set of Fabworx catless downpipes and no rattle at all.

Hi Guys,

Hope this finds you well.

I recently purchased an M5 F10 with downpipes installed, the previous owner unfortunately got rid of the original equipment so I cannot change back.

The reason i am asking is that in my country we have to check the vehicle by the traffic department annually, and unfortunately the M5 with downpipes wont pass the test, is there a way I can temporarily reduce the downpipes sound? Any tips or tricks😅.

Thank you guys🙏🙏
