Perfecting the Bang and Olufsen settings
A number of people on this board have been using my Bang and Olufsen settings. I found that the settings I used only worked at high volumes, but didn't really provide the richness of sound I expected at lower volumes.
I then turned to my friend @blue.thunder - that German fellow of impeccable taste with his own custom Individual colored M5 - to see if he could take my settings a step further to create high fidelity at any sound level. Blue Thunder came through and his settings are superb. I am sharing them here. We didn't use any calibration software so I won't pretend these meet any objective standard of perfection, but I have to say that music with these settings sounds pretty awesome with any kind of music at any volume. Use Expanded Mode for these settings. Expanded Mode Treble +7 Bass +6 Fader -6 EQ: 100 Hz +7 200 Hz +3 500 Hz +1 1 kHz -2 2 kHz -4 5 kHz -2 10 kHz +3

I like my car to thump and the rear view mirror to get blurry, and the B&O does both
So turn the base up (just not all the way..)

I actually switch back and forth, depending on what type of music I'm listening to. I feel like Studio Mode has a tighter bass punch, making hip-hop, club music, etc. sound better.

I'll try it tomorrow and report to you. Mmh, isn't the Bass a little bit weak? I prefer electronic music with good bass. My settings are actually: Expanded Mode TREBLE +8 BASS +6 FADER -6 (back) BALANCE +-0 EQUALIZER: 100 Hz +8 200 Hz +4 500 Hz +1 1 kHz -1 2 kHz -4 5 kHz -3 10 kHz 0 Would you mind testing this setting? The Equalizer is fix and depending on the source of music (CD, USB, Online Entertainment,...) and the titles/artists I change only TREBLE and BASS to optimize the sound. |

I will try yours, but I don't really listen to electronic music so will listen to it with pop, rock and musical soundtrack music.

I like Studio mode best with windows up, expanded with windows down. I think it actually recommends expanded for window down listening in the manual. My setting are very similar to Stealth, with 1 kHz at 0, 100 Hz bumped up past 200 Hz.
This system rocks! |

Thanks Stealth for sharing. The big addition I did was getting the IPhone 5 adapter for my car. If you have the B & O Sound System this mod is a must. The music sounds much better.

Does this produce better sound compared to a regular USB connection? Doesn't seem like it would.

No the snap in adapter and a USB cable are the same thing.

Dave Matthews - Some Devil EP (whole album is acoustic). Also Alice and Chains live acoustic is impressive on this system. Notorious B.I.G. - Hypnotize - outstanding demo of B&O Kendrick Lamar - The Art of Peer Pressure - probably the most impressive demonstration of subsonic bass you will find on a car audio system. You will low tones on this track that most people will never ever hear anywhere. I'm not a hip hop freak, these are just some good demos of the system. For the best rock and roll mix in the history of rock and roll - of course Exile on Main Street by the stones (remastered) is the creme de la creme. This system gets better with volume in my opinion. Enjoy! |

Don't want to derail the thread/conversation , but figured it might be of interest
to some to see the EQ with settings to take out the B&Q "adjustments" from factory. The settings below are from my M5 which did come with the B&O system and had a few upgrades done to it (front speakers, subwoofer, amplifier), the results have been a significant increase in sound stage and quality. As it's an upgraded B&O system the settings below may NOT be working well for the standard B&O system

I didn't get a chance to hear the L7 system that comes stock with the M5 until a couple weeks ago. When I heard it I really thought the $3700 B&O upgrade was kind of a waste. It's awesome in the style department but wish there was a bigger difference between the two. Looking back it's the one feature I could probably do without. I find myself enjoying the sound from my downpipes more lol. Anyways I'll give the new settings a shot. I appreciate the insight

Thanks, Stealth. Changed the rear bias and it greatly improved the sound field.

^ Yeah wow what a difference. I had no idea. Have always has the best EQ settings on my cars based on what people posted but didn't mess with the fader. I have it 5 or so notches to the rear and it's made a world of a difference.
Thanks Stealth & All!
