Opinion on an F10 listed at Carmax

I have been tossing around the idea of stepping into an F10, and came across this one at a Carmax outside Atlanta.

https://www.carmax.com/car/17703693

2015 in Monte Carlo Blue with 28k miles. From the Carmax description and pictures, the car looks to be fully loaded with all options except Carbon Ceramic Brakes.

My question is that I pulled the build sheet using mdecoder.com and found that it lists that the car was built WITH Carbon Ceramic Brakes.

https://www.mdecoder.com/decode/d594846

There really aren't any great pictures on the listing to tell for sure, but the calipers appear to be blue. All Carbon Ceramic Brake calipers were gold, right?

The only possibilities that I can think of are:

A: The VIN decoder site is wrong
B: The car was built with CCB, then later swapped out and sold by a previous owner before selling.
C: The CCB brake calipers are painted blue (unlikely in my opinion).

Does anyone have any thoughts on this, or access to a better vin decoder to know for sure?

The VIN is WBSFV9C57FD594846

The car seems to be missing more than its CCB's,it's tail pipe finishers. I'd walk away.

You can see the wear indicators in the pictures, so they appear to carbon ceramic rotors. Maybe they had them painted to match the car, hard to say. I'd trace some history and have a dealership do an evaluation before considering.

I agree. There are too many discrepancies with this car and those are just the ones you can see in the photos. This car has a story, and I wouldn't want to be part of it.

In addition to the valuable comments already provided, I think the price for an already 3-owner vehicle with these discrepancies is too high. You can do better. That being said, If you are really set on this color combo, I am close enough to that area that I could go see it in person and take some close up pics or test drive. PM me if interested.

You know what, after looking at them closely although a bit blurred they do appear to be CCB's with the smaller cooling holes in the disc, certainly the steel ones have larger holes in wave patterns across the disc unless they are pattern steel ones

I agree with everyones comments. It's probably best to stay away from this one. One intrigues me with Carmax is their, best in the industry, warranty. Although you will be overpaying every time with them...

This car is equipped with CCB, the friction disc is bolted to the center hub, clearly visible. The car is loaded, I agree. I purchased from Carmax multiple times and truly enjoyed the warranty package. IMHO, the price is acceptable, considering the warranty options available. I would at least check it out

Those are indeed CCB's; calipers appear to have been painted blue. I have the exact same car, minus CCB's. This one also appears to have the mperformance cf mirror caps. Due to lack of other mods, I'm going to assume these were dealer installed. Def do your research but the price is decent. Only thing that really scares me is the 3 prev. owners. Again though, you get the carmax warranty so maybe it's a wash. Check it out if you can though; it's worth having a look.

Yeah...the more I look at it, I agree that they are CCB's. Good call on the mirror caps. I didn't even notice. Carmax recently dropped the price by $2k. At only 28k miles, it's looking to be a better deal. I'm not completely sold on the interior color though. I'm a little concerned with keeping it clean, particularly with a 6 and 8 y/o riding in the back. I'm not really in a hurry to buy. I may just let it sit there a bit longer, and hope that it doesn't sell and the price drops a bit more.

Their transportation costs are ridiculously cheap though. They'll transport the car to SW Florida from Atlanta (600 miles) for only $99 w/o any commitment at all.

Offer stands. Happy to go give it a closer inspection and send some additional pics. PM me if I can help.

I appreciate it. I'm actually going to be up in ATL in 2 weeks. I may just swing by there then.

I cant see what the fuss is all about, its looks like it has all of the options listed. Nothing wrong with 3 owners it could have been a dealer demo car with 2 previous owners.

If you think 3 owners is bad have a look at most Porsche 911 Turbo S, they have 5+ owners with as little as 10,000 miles on them.

I was 100% ANTI-Silverstone interior until I found a deal I couldn't pass up. It's grown on my quite a bit now. It's not my fav but it's definitely cooler in the summer than the other color options. It does show wear but if you take care of it, it should last a while.
