Just curious, how sure of this are you? Does that change anything "warranty wise" with the car?

Thanks!

Post your VIN maybe someone here can help you track him/her Down.
I wouldn't take the Dealer's or NA word.
Was it a Lease/Show Car/ BMW employee Car?
Any way i wish you the best outcome on this very sad Hear as a Owner of 2 F10's.
Are you listening BMW?
I BELIEVE it was a DEMO car. The car has a production date of April 2014. The warranty ends somehow in June of 2018. From my understanding, BMW automatically adds 3 months or 5k to the warranty if it is a DEMO car. I think I may be on to something here!

I was looking to purchase BMW warranty, but every BMW dealer was telling the car does not qualify for manufacturer warranty. I did some research and found out that BMW NA does not extend warranty for car that miss initial 1200 service, or have been raced, modified and other reasons dealership did not disclose. My car was a demo and fuckers did not do 1200 service.

I'd be really pissed. They probably beat the living shit out of it with no warm up times, clearly no oil changes. etc.

That said I'd still get in touch with some of the better shops on the east coast who have an established track record with building the motors to 1000whp. Shouldn't be too terrible although its clearly an unplanned expense.

Keep working on going at the dealer tho, till you decide what you're doing lol.

Update: Was NOT a demo car. Had a good friend of mine confirm at a dealership. As of right now, will be building the motor to easily withstand 1000whp hopefully. Should know for sure what the plan is with the car by the end of the week!

Right now, we're looking at about $10k to build it roughly...give or take a thousand or two. It's the time without the car that will kill me, but luckily I will be traveling in April quite a bit so it will be that much better when I get back!

Lol that'd be beautiful if it was 10k to hold up that amount of WHP but I was looking around for sometime myself if that was the route I had to take and from Steve Dinan I was quoted around 40k fully built with turbos wasn't too bad... but BPC was around 75k... : not worth 75k imo

I am going by PUBLICLY advertised retail pricing:

1. Motor by Dinan (Carbahn Autoworks): $20K
2. Turbo kits range from Pure S2 (easily 800+ whp) to Weistec (unknown but could be more...): $5K - $12K
3. Misc mods I am not counting because you would spend that regardless of your present situation
4. Labor/fluids/misc: $5-7K depending on where you go

You could have a solid 800+whp motor for $30K or push toward 1000whp @ the $40K-$45K range. Do a bunch of the work yourself and save another few $K...

I mean I'd deff upgrade turbos and fuel system and clutch but as far as needing to go all hard core I don't see a reason. You can solidify the motor with rods and pistons, run stock heads (if thats a thing like on GTRs), and just have the thing on full tilt tune lol.

Rods and pistons and maybe a bored motor plus labor should be like 6-7k max head work adds that plus labor minus the dinan name brand 13-20k

Umm, then WTF is the point of warranty if they're going to throw *'s after the fact?! I'd be livid and reporting to my local news channels...airing their dirty laundry always seems to get people off their asses.

Could have been a rental car. Hertz never does any factory services.

This is why people should buy used cars either CPO or from another board member here who bought it new.

When it comes to the quality of a used car this is the ranking:
1) Private seller from this board who is a true enthusiast who hasn't performance modded the car
>
2) CPO car
>
3) Third party dealer who got the car in an auction (these are usually the worst cars because good cars are always sold privately or end up as CPOs).

Easy to have this LOL attitude towards the situation when it's not your car...

I just Googled what a 1200mile service entails...seems at most it's an oil change and diff fluid change. NONE of which would cause something so catastrophic as this. That's a big ass * they're trying to use to get out of something that was clearly a build defect.
