Greetings from Korea

Howdy y'all! Just wanted to do a quick intro since i've been lurking this forum for the past month and learning a TON of info about the f10 M5. I recently picked up a 2014 Monte Carlo Blue M5 that's fully loaded and enjoying my time with it thus far. Definitely not new to game, but been used to playing with Audi's, Volvos and Saab's for the past 1.5 decades.

It's been slow going on the modding front, but that's pretty typical with a 9 yo, 7 yo, and 20 month old tugging at my heels for my time. This car is also so well sorted that I don't really need or want to do much to it. Only have a few things left on my list, but I'll pick those things up as the Members Classified's and other sponsor/vendors do sales

The Bimmercode and Bimmerlink apps have been great too. I picked up the VeePeak BLE+ and coded all the standard things like mirrors, warning messages and VIM, but will work on some of the other items as i find more time (and it isn't insufferably hot outside).

Planned mods include:
Suspension - need to fix this reverse rake...
Wheels - Hard part is finding someone who will ship to APO
CF lip
CF Rear Diffuser
CF Side Skirts
And that's about it. I don't have a lot of space to stretch her legs so I don't plan on any engine mods, but 560hp is plenty for me!

Anyways, here are a few snaps I managed after my gym time during lunch yesterday. Look forward to learning more and participating in the community!

Thanks for all the kind words! Finding all sorts of fun stuff on this forum and through Google. The coding options are really limitless on this thing. So open compared to my 2015 XC60, that's for sure.

Hey Joe, I recently moved down to Camp Humphreys from Yongsan last year. This installation is much nicer now that everything is getting up to speed, but we are still in the middle of nowhere.

Ahh, good deal! I go up there every week for meetings, and it's a great installation. The amount of people on scooters and electric bikes is insane there.

Well you have no idea then how much a M5 here in Singapore costs then....

YIKES. That's definetely more than what we're paying here in Korea. I can't attest to how much they cost new, as the prices they list on their webpages only list the Korean MSRP; you still have to add in registration tax and import tax. A friend bought her 2013 X6 40d through the BMW Military sales (korean spec) and ended up paying something like 17k after the base cost of her car. That said, i would imagine an M5 would be the MSRP + 20% for all taxes involved.

Additionally, registration taxes on vehicles over 3,000cc's (3.0L or above) will incur an additional registration tax for being a "gas guzzler". It has been a tremendous help being SOFA registered here, as it allows us to not have to worry about these taxes and fee's, but it does make it difficult to sell a Korean Spec vehicle since it can't go back to the US unless it passes the 25 year rule, OR, you change out all the components to match a US Spec vehicle. I got such a tremendous deal on my M5, that I'm ok with selling it at or below my purchase price because, honestly, i get at least 30 SMiles per Gallon
